Research Topic for the ParisTech/CSC PhD Program Subfield: (Chemistry, Materials) ParisTech School: Ecole Polytechnique Title: Photoactive materials based on coordination complexes Advisor(s): Sandrine Perruchas ([email protected]) and Thierry Gacoin ([email protected]) http://pmc.polytechnique.fr Short description of possible research topics for a PhD: Luminescent materials have numerous applications in various areas such as lighting, biology or detection. The ability to control and modify the emission properties using external stimuli is a research area of growing interest for the development of multifunctional materials with applications in detection systems or optical recording in the case of reversibility, for instance. In this context, the project involves the development of new materials of this type, optically active and multifunctional, based on the optical properties of copper iodide coordination complexes. These compounds exhibit remarkable photoluminescence properties. In particular, we have reported the sensitivity of their emission to various stimuli such as pressure (mechanochromism) or temperature (thermochromism). The objective of this project is to deepen the knowledge of the photophysical properties of these coordination complexes along with the synthesis of original stimuli-responsive optical materials.
