Methods
Introduction
- 103 full-time employees in underground workspaces in Singapore
• Poor sleep quality is associated with cardiovascular disease and other adverse health outcomes • There is little published research comparing poor sleep quality prevalence across various underground workplaces in different parts of the world
- 77 full-time employees in underground workspaces in US Self-administered questionnaires • General Health Questionnaire-12 (GHQ-12) and Short Form-36 (SF-36) to assess mental health and health related quality of life. • Sleep quality was assessed by Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI); Poor sleep quality was defined as PSQI>5
Objectives
To compare the prevalence of and risk factors associated with poor sleep quality in workers in underground workspaces (without presence of natural sunlight or aboveground view) in Singapore and the United States (US)
Statistical Analysis: Location-adjusted multivariate logistic regression was used to determine the factors associated with the poor sleep quality.
