Abstract: Timely detection of myocardial infarction is important to save the life of a patient. Myoglobin is an important marker of myocardial infarction. With the onset of myocardial infarction, level of myoglobin starts to enhance in serum, so detection of its level is clinically important. The specificity of antibody and sensitivity of electrochemical detection are used in our work to develop a porous silicon based immunosensor for the detection of myoglobin at different concentrations. Porous silicon is well known for its very large surface area and surface dependent electronic properties which can be exploited for development of an immunosensor. Technique of cyclic voltammetry is used for immunosensing. This technique is quite capable of detecting changes in capacitance or resistance of electrode as a result of binding of antigen.
