NUS High School Shows Best Standing at International Math & Science Olympiads 2013

All seven NUS High School students bring home medals- 6 Gold & 1 Silver 1 Following Singapore’s success at the recent International Math and Science Olympiads, NUS High School of Mathematics and Science (NUS High School) congratulates the Singapore team on their outstanding performance at the various International Olympiads. 2 NUS High School has achieved outstanding performance in this year’s International Olympiads. Seven of our NUS High School students represented the Singapore teams, and all of them brought home medals. We garnered a total of six Gold and one Silver medals. 54th International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) 3 The Singapore team received one Gold medal and five Silver medals at the 54th International Mathematical Olympiad. Representing the Singapore team, Lim Jeck and Ling Yan Hao achieved one Gold medal and one Silver medal respectively. This is Lim Jeck’s third consecutive gold medal at IMO. This is the first time that a Singapore student has managed to enter the IMO Hall of Fame. (Website: http://www.imoofficial.org/hall.aspx). Lim Jeck won a second Gold medal for Singapore when he represented Singapore in this year’s International Physics Olympiad. This is one of the rare occasions that a Singaporean student won 2 Gold medals at international olympiads in the same year.

44th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 4 The Singapore team won four Gold medals and one Silver medal at the 44 th IPhO. All three NUS High School participants - Lim Jeck, Sean Seet Xiang En and Tan Wei Liang Byorn obtained Gold medals. Sean Seet is ranked 4th among the 381 IPhO participants and is Singapore’s best individual performance thus far.

45th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) 5 The Singapore team received three Gold medals and one Bronze medal at the 45 th IChO. Ranked 12th among all the participants, Chua Anlong is the highest scorer in the Singapore team. 24th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) 6 The Singapore team obtained four Gold medals at the 24th IBO. Ranked 5th among all participants, Stanley Quek Tee Kai garnered a Gold medal. ______________________________________________________________________________ NUS High School of Mathematics and Science The NUS High School of Mathematics and Science is a specialised independent school that aims to nurture well-rounded and world-ready scientific minds through its academic programme, affective education and co-curricular activities.
