Was awarded Gold Medal of the University in 1974 for securing highest percentage of marks at MA Part II BA (with English Literature, Economics and Geography) from the Ganpat Sahai Degree College, Sultanpur, University of Gorakhpur in First Division with Third Position in order of merit in the University and affiliated Colleges in 1972 (it covered almost entire east UP those days) Intermediate with Hindi, English, Economics, Education and Geography from MSV Inter College Sultanpur, UP Board, in 1970 in First Division and secured top position in the College

Saraswati Samman was conferred by the Government of Uttar Pradesh on 5th September (Teachers Day) 2011 for praiseworthy contribution in Higher Education Shikshak Shree Samman was conferred by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in September 2009 in recognition of “excellent contribution in higher education” Uchcha Shiksha mein Utkrisht yogdaan ke liye Member of the research team of RECOUP, Department for International Development (DfID) Government of UK supported Research Programme Consortium (RPC) on Outcomes in Education (in India, Pakistan Ghana and Kenya), University of Cambridge, UK for five year project beginning 2006-7 Was unanimously elected President of the Uttar Pradesh Uttaranchal Economic Association (UPUEA) in 2005 in its annual conference held in Varanasi. Was elected Patron of the Association of British Scholar (ABS) in India, Lucknow Chapter in 2003 Recipient of Govind Ballabh Pant Economics Award in the year 2000 the all India award is based on best book in Hindi. My book Krishi Arthshastra (Agricultural Economics) was selected for the same. Was awarded Visiting Fellowship of the Urban Research Centre, University of Calcutta, 1993 Was selected as a Visiting Fellow in the South Asian Visiting Scholarship Programme (SAVSP) of the University of Oxford, 1994-95. Worked under the supervison of Prof. Robert Cassen. The Report of my work in the programme is still preserved as a model report for the visiting fellows in Queen Elizabeth House, Oxford. Was conferred Career Award for Young Social Scientist of the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi in 1989 for outstanding research work as young social scientist. Was awarded Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) of the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 1974 (could not be availed) National Merit Scholarship in Post graduate classes in Lucknow University 19972-74 Bursary in graduate classes in 1970-72 Merit Scholarship in High School and Intermediate classes during 196668 and 1968-70 respectively.

Total teaching experience of about 37 years in the Department of Economics, Lucknow University, Lucknow. Was appointed Lecturer in Economics, at Lucknow University in1974 soon after my passing out MA without interview as I was the topper of my batch in the same year. Subsequently was selected as Reader in Economics in 1993 Was selected Visiting Fellow under South Asian Visiting Scholarship Programme (SAVSP), at the Queen Elizabeth House (QEH) at the University of Oxford United Kingdom in 1994 (in Mechalemus, Hillary and Trinity Term 1994-95) Was selected Professor of Economics in Lucknow University in 2001. Presently holds this position.

Administrative Appointment/Experience: • Was offered the post of Deputy Director in the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, New Delhi 1989 ( did not join) • Was appointed (as additional charge) Director, Public Relations, Lucknow University in 1993 This was a new post created in Lucknow University by the then VC Prof MS Sodha • Was appointed (as additional charge) Director, Publications, Lucknow University in 1993. This was an innovative scheme in LU which made arrangement with leading publishers for publishing research studies/manuscripts of books of Lucknow University teachers. • Was appointed Secretary (as additional charge) of newly established Lucknow University Development Council (LUDC), to coordinate the development of University Departments and Associated Colleges of LU in 1997-98 • Was appointed (as additional charge) Director, Information, Publication and Public Relations, (IPPR) Lucknow University in 2002 to 2005 • Was appointed Founder Director, Agri-Business Programme in the Institute of Management Studies of Lucknow University in 2007 • Presently, Chairman, Annual Reports Committee, University of Lucknow, Lucknow
