How PBP Works: • • • • • • • •

The books are a free gift to the person receiving them. They do not need to be returned to the Prison Book Program. There is no charge for the books. We fill requests as quickly as possible but sometimes that means 3-6 months. Please be patient with us. 50100 volunteers work to fill requests each month. Each prisoner is limited to two book shipments per year. Please do not write us more than once every six months or have multiple people send in additional requests. Additional requests will be ignored. We provide books to individual prisoners. We do not provide books to libraries or to administrators. We do not have a catalog, offer pen-pal services, or maintain a mailing list. We do not send books to: California, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Nevada, Texas, and many individual prisons. Please visit our website for a list of specific prisons where we cannot send books. We also have a list of other “books to prisoners” programs that may have approval to serve these locations All requests must be mailed to us. We do not accept book requests by email or phone.

Books Available • • • •

What is available varies and depends on what is donated and what is in stock when we fill the request. Only one dictionary request per person per year will be honored. Our free 6-page National Prisoner Resource List and 40-page “We the People” legal primer are available upon request only. Both resources are also available on our website for you to print and mail to the person inside. All requests for legal material will be fulfilled with a "We the People" legal primer.
