Abstract To assess the patients of diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM) for the presence of rheumatologic complications and their prevalence as compared to normal controls and to study their correlation with the duration of the diabetes, glycated haemoglobin(GHB) and diabetic retinopathy (DR).Assessment of rheumatologic complications in 100 DM patients (study group) and 75 age and sex matched control groups was done for the presence or absence of the following complications: limited joint mobility (LJM), flexor tenosynovitis (FTS), Dupuytren’s disease (DD), carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS), peri-arthritis shoulder(PAS), shoulder hand syndrome (SHS), diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis (DISH), Charcot’s arthropathy (CA), and osteoarthritis (OA). There were 59 males and 41 females in the study group of age between 35 to 75 years. Out of 100 patients 41% had LJM, 41% had DD and 39% had OA. The occurrence of LJM, DD, FTS, PAS, had significant association with DM. The duration of DM and its association with rheumatologic complications was found highly significant for the LJM and DD (p
