Club Business CMRA Event Armband Policy Revisited In order for the CMRA to get event liability insurance, our insurance company requires that everyone signs the waiver at the gate. You are then REQUIRED to wear the armband provided to you by the gate staff on your arm. This proves that you have signed the waiver. Signing the waiver is the single most important thing that you will do at the track each weekend. In the past, these waiver forms have been requested from the CMRA as evidence in jury trials….they are that important. And now, due to recent events, our insurance company has notified us that they will be doing spot checks at our events to ensure that armbands are being worn by EVERYONE at ALL TIMES. Armbands MUST BE VISIBLE as this indicates that the liability waiver has been signed at the gate when entering the property. If your armband breaks during the race weekend, bring all the pieces with you to Registration and it will be replaced. NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS POLICY WILL BE TOLERATED.

Sad News From Indianapolis Motor Speedway, occasional CMRA racer, Peter Lenz succumbed to injuries he received after a crash on the warm-up lap for the USGPRU REV’IT Moriwaki MD250H Challenge Powered by Honda race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on August 29, 2010. Lenz was apparently trying to get off the track when he was struck by another rider. Lenz was a very fast young racer who certainly looked to have a bright future ahead of him in roadracing. He shared a close friendship with MotoGP rider and CMRA alum Colin Edwards II and his father, Colin Senior. Lenz will be missed by all in the motorcycling community. Regular and occasional CMRA racers notched some strong performances at the MotoGP race weekend at Indianapolis Motor Speedway held on August 27 – 29. In MotoGP, CMRA alum Ben Spies scored his first ever pole position and finished the race in second place. Nicky Hayden also qualified well, in the 3rd spot, and finished the race in 6th after losing a knee puck early in the race. Colin Edwards II qualified in the 9th spot, but DNF the race after suffering tire problems. In the Moto2 race, Roger Lee Hayden qualified in the 29th spot, but put in a solid ride to finish in 17th place. In the USGPRU REV’IT Moriwaki MD250H Challenge Powered by Honda race, regular and part time CMRA racers gave a solid showing. Garrett Gerloff won Saturday’s race over Jake Lewis. Peter Lenz was 4th, Grayson Gerloff 8th, Austin Medrano 12th, Kaleb De Keyrel 13th, and Brandon Altmeyer finished 14th out of 24 starters. On Sunday, it was Garrett Gerloff again with the win, Jake Lewis in 3rd, Grayson Gerloff in 8th, Kaleb De Keyrel 10th, and Brandon Altmeyer 15th out of 22 starters. Good show, guys!

Meet & Greet the BOD Nominees On Saturday evening at ECR in August, we had a Meet the BOD Nominees get together on the first floor of the Club House. Nine of the 13 nominees came to the meeting, introduced themselves and gave a short speech outlining their “platforms” for the upcoming election. There were around 30 members who attended to hear what the nominees had to say. Due to time constraints, the Q & A session that followed had to be cut short. There will be a second Meet the BOD Nominees meeting on Saturday night at MSR. This will allow all of the BOD nominees a chance to attend and hopefully more members will attend to hear what these folks have to say. Please plan to attend: Saturday night, 7:30 p.m., 2nd floor of the Main Building.
