Public Comment – Call to Audience The Pima Community College Board of Governors welcomes public comment on issues within the jurisdiction of the College. Comments should be limited to five minutes per individual. At the conclusion of public comment, individual Board members may respond to criticism made by those who addressed the Board, may ask staff to review a matter, or may ask that a matter be put on a future agenda. Members of the Board, however, may not discuss or take legal action on matters raised during public comment unless the matters are properly noticed for discussion and legal action. Finally, be advised that internal College processes are available to students and employees for communication.

Contract: Arizona Department of Economic Security, Child Care and Professional Training Curriculum • Recommendation to approve the Community Campus contract proposal, and if funded, acceptance of the contract award, entitled “Contract: Arizona Department of Economic Security, Child Care and Professional Training Curriculum.” The contract continues a program the College has conducted since February, 2002, to provide the Arizona Department of Economic Security’s Child Care Administration’s 60-contact hour Child Care Professional Training curriculum. The contract performance period is from July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013.

Contract: Call Center Services for IT and Student Financial Services • Recommendation to approve two contracts to continue Call Center Support Services for the period of January 1, 2013 through June 30, 2013. With Perceptis, LLC, the current vendor, for services support of the College IT Help Desk. Costs not expected to exceed $ 175,000.00. With Xerox Education Services, INC., for services in support of the College Financial Aid and Student Accounts Help Desk. Costs not expected to exceed $600,000.00.

Grant Proposal: City of Tucson, General Funds: Job Training and Educational Programs for At-Risk and Disconnected Youth and/or Adults, GED for Career Readiness-Pima County One Stop (PCOS) • Request for authorization to approve Grant Proposal: City of Tucson, General Funds: Job Training and Educational Programs for At-Risk and Disconnected Youth and/or Adults, GED for Career Readiness-Pima County One Stop (PCOS) Partnership and if funded, acceptance of the grant award from the City Of Tucson’s General Funds for Education and Job Training. If funded, the project will teach participants the basic skills they need to pass the GED test, while also preparing them for college or a career. The total amount being requested is $98,155 for the grant performance period of July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013.

Grant Proposal: National Science Foundation: Transforming Undergraduate Education in STEM (TUES); TRansforming Education And Science Undergraduate Research and Education (TREASURE) • Request for authorization to approve the National Science Foundation: Transforming Undergraduate Education in Science, Technology Engineering, and Mathematics (NSF: TUES-STEM) grant proposal entitled, “TRansforming Education And Science Undergraduate Research and Education” (TREASURE). The TREASURE grant program focuses on: curriculum development of a first-year science course, provide faculty professional

Action Items (Continued) development and training, purchasing of science equipment, funding to attend conferences and to host a conference locally and the purchasing of instructor tablets. 13.8

Grant Proposal: United States Department of Education, Upward Bound Math and Science Program, Northwest Campus • Request for authorization to approve the Northwest Campus Upward Bound Math and Science grant proposal; and if funded, acceptance of the grant award from the United States Department of Education. The grant proposes to serve low-income, firstgeneration students at Marana High School who are interested in pursuing a postsecondary education in Math and Science.

Grant Proposal: United States Department of Education, Upward Bound Veterans Program, Downtown Campus • Request for authorization to approve the Downtown Campus Upward Bound Veterans grant proposal; and if funded, acceptance of the grant award from the United States Department of Education. The grant proposes to serve low-income veterans who are “first-generation” in pursuing a postsecondary education. If funded, the grant performance period will be October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2017. The total amount requested for year one is $250,000 and $1,250,000 total for five years.

Other Action Items 14.

Prep Academy Program Pilot • Recommendation to approve the contract with eCollege.com, a Pearson Education, Inc. subsidiary, to provide Prep Academy students access to its learning software known as MyFoundationsLabPlus for the period July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013, and approve a pilot program whereby the Prep Academy is offered at no charge to students utilizing the software.
