Historic Baltimore Album Block of the Month Many of you have admired the Baltimore Album quilts from the 1840's-1850's when you have seen their pictures and you probably thought you could never do that! Well, we have put together a series of 10 classes that will get you going and prove to you that you can! In each class Leslie will teach you a technique or skill that you will need to make your quilt and help you improve your hand appliqué skills. We have selected 2 of the original Baltimore Album quilts for you to choose from: the Mary Mannakee quilt is a traditional red and green quilt and the Mary Simon (the DAR quilt) is a more advanced quilt with many baskets and buildings. Color pictures of each quilt are in the shop for you to see but, of course, Leslie encourages you to 'do your own thing' when choosing the fabrics for your own project! If there is another pattern you would prefer to use, please let Leslie know. Join us on this adventure to learn the history of these beautiful quilts and a little about the lives of their makers while you stitch your very own Baltimore Album quilt! This is an intermediate/advanced appliqué class so prior knowledge of hand needleturn appliqué is required. **Any 'veterans' of Leslie's previous Baltimore Album block of the month classes are entitled to return for this new cycle at a reduced fee, space permitting. Sat. Feb. 1, March 1, April 5, May 10 (future dates to be announced) 9:30-12:30 Class fee for all 10 classes is $200 ($100 for veterans) and may be made in 2 equal installments.

Rabbit-- Sunshine Sunshine is made from golden imported German plush. You will need a little experience to make Sunshine because she is a little more detailed with traditional jointing, imported glass eyes and a handstitched nose. Her floppy ears will be lined with ultra-suede and her feet will be sculpted. We will also be using pellets and soft stuffing to make her floppy. Come join the fun and see this darling bunny come to life. Kit fee $30 Sat. March 15 10:00-4:00 $35 Cat-- Kitty We will be making a fun kitty cat from cat-like fur, kits may vary and you will have a choice of kits as you sign up for the class. Your little cat will have floppy legs and a nice little tail. We will use traditional jointing, imported glass eyes and a handstitched embroidered nose. Her trimmed face will have whiskers and some sculpting for a little more personality. You will need a little experience to enjoy this class but the results should be fun. Kit fee $35 Sat. April 26 10:00-4:00 $35 Pat offers to help former students with unfinished projects (bears, bunnies and cats) at no charge. Please contact her to arrange an appointment on one or more to the "sewing days" at our store. You can reach her at 813-972-9707.

Alphabet Block with Dimensional and Embroidery Embellishments Leslie fell in love with the alphabet blocks in Janice Vaine's book, 'Appliqué & Embroidery Fundamentals'! We will combine some easy hand needleturn appliqué with some dimensional ruched roses and Fishbone Stitch leaves. We may even throw in a few beads! While we assume you have some experience with needleturn appliqué, a motivated beginner would do fine in this class! Sat. Jan. 25 10:00-4:00 $35 Flowers for my Wedding Ring Leslie has received numerous requests for this Double Wedding Ring quilt by Judy Niemeyer so now is your chance! This pattern is simplified from the traditional Double Wedding Ring pattern by the use of paper-piecing (the arcs) and a special acrylic template set for trimming the arcs and cutting the melons and other background pieces. You will learn how to paper-piece, stitch a curved seam and do the fusible appliqué flowers around the border. If you choose not to do a big quilt, Judy Niemeyer's pattern, 'Wedding Ring Bedrunner', is constructed the same way with the same pieces - it is just a smaller version! Sat. Jan. 18 1:00-3:00 Leslie will be at the shop to help you select your fabrics if you would like to come in. There is no extra charge for this! Sat. Feb. 8 & March 8 10:00-4:00 $60 'Bow Jangles' Quilt - Curved Piecing Take some great acrylic templates, an assortment of beautiful fabrics and create a great quilt with easy curved piecing. Leslie used the new collection of Jo Morton batiks in the shop but you could use any selection you prefer - choose 9 different prints or make it as scrappy as you want. Leslie promises to take away your fear of curved piecing! Sat. March 22 10:00-4:00 $35 Quilt Squares - Flying Geese When Leslie found this set of 6 patterns from Lori Smith ('From my heart to your hands'), each with 6 different 12" quilts, she couldn't resist! Last cycle we did 3 quilts all incorporating triangle squares. We had so much fun that we decided to do it again - this time with Flying Geese! The small size makes them doable and you can learn something new from each. In this class Leslie is offering you 3 samples from Quilt Squares #2 to choose from, each focusing on techniques you can use to make Flying Geese. Pick your favorite fabrics - you can't go wrong! Leslie bets you can't stop at just one! Sat. April 19 10:00-4:00 $35

Twister Shamrock or Heart Twisting is such fun! Come join us to make either a twister heart wall hanging or twister shamrock wall hanging. The ruler does the work for you! All you sew are straight seams. Great gift. Sat. Feb. 15 10:00-4:00 $35 Free Motion Quilting We will explore free motion quilting in this class. March 12 10:00-12:00 $20 Heart Strings Quilt This is a quick and easy quilt made from strips. It is a great way to use a jelly roll or you can cut strips from your stash. FUN FUN FUN!! Sat. April 5 10:00-4:00 $35 String Spiderweb Quilt You will love making this Bonnie Hunter pattern. String quilts are very popular right now and they are great stash busters. You will be able to tackle any string quilt pattern after this class. Come string along with us. Sat. April 19 10:00-4:00 $35

Classes with Joan Rudolph BRIX – The Quilt What a fun quilt this was to make. I already had some fabric and when I found this pattern, I thought the fabric would be perfect. But you can make it out of any fabric. You can pick more masculine colors for that favorite man in your life, or make it out of batiks, or completely scrappy. I even thought it would fun to make an I-spy quilt for any little ones in your family. My goal is to have you complete enough squares in class to make a couple of rows of the quilt, then you can finish it up at home. Sat. Feb. 8 10:00-4:00 $35 Mondo Bag Again, a multi-purpose bag. You can pick any type fabric for this project. You can make it an organized design or a very scrappy look using batiks or a themed fabric. No fuss piecing as we use the pre-gridded fusible product, which comes with the pattern. If you can use or need another “tote” bag, or just like the looks of the Mondo Bag, you will want to make this one. Sat. March 22 10:00-4:00 $35 Tropical Bowl Set Oh, I like this one. We will use heatset modable fusible to create cute bowls that look like sea shells and a star fish. You will be able to pick the design you want to make and in this one day class you should be able to take home a finished project! Sat. March 1 10:00-4:00 $35
