Shodo Class by Harumi Normally a Japanese Calligraphy (Shodo) class has many students at the same time. It is like a combination of calligraphy with zen or meditation, because Shodo is not for only technique but also mind (chi) practice. I am offering a small class at my home in Carmel Mountain, off I-15, because of limited space and also because I want to focus on every student’s technical improvement. (Some students prefer a 1 on 1 experience so we can hold the brush together and I can correct line or stroke.) I have time from 10:30am to 1pm weekdays except Tuesdays, and my fee is $40 for 3 times a month for an approximately 1 hour class, or $15 at a time for a one-hour lesson. I offer experience with many kind of brushes and many different kind of letters (from pictograph-like to square type Kaisho). I started Shodo in the first grade, and I assisted teaching classes when I was high school. After high school, I received a certificate to have my own classes, and I have now been teaching for almost 30 years. Please contact me with any questions: [email protected] I look forward to teaching you! Harumi Osawa
