INTRODUCTION A. Imagine that you just got caught cheating at school! You get sent to the principal’s office and when you get there he says, “bend over and brace yourself”! You get a painful spanking by principal leaving you with a blistered butt! According to dictionary.com corporal punishment is a law that allows physical punishment for a crime, ranging from spanking to the death penalty. B. You might think this only happened in the past but you are wrong! Watch out teenagers, corporal punishment is legal in many states and next time you get in trouble in school, you could be at risk of getting paddled on the BEHIND! C. The purpose of my speech is to inform you about a recent story regarding spanking in high school.

D. First, I will swat out the details of this story. Then, I will slap you with my thoughts about it. BODY A. According to a story written by Joshua Miller of Fox News. Com on September 24th, 2012, a school principal is in the hot seat for practicing corporal punishment on a fifteen year old girl who was caught helping her friend copy her homework! 1. Within the Springtown School District in Texas there is a rule that allows students to get paddled for punishment! It’s perfectly legal; however the rule states that the administrator has to be of the same-sex of the person getting spanked! 2. The Vice Principal Kirt Shaw is a male and Taylor Santos is a female! Taylor had the option of 2 days in-school suspension or the paddle and she chose the paddle. Her mother event approved the spanking, but is now mad because she said she didn’t know it would be so severe and given by a man. 3. Taylor is 95lbs. and the paddle left her with large blisters on her butt. Her mother now regrets her decision to let her daughter receive corporal punishment and feels like her daughter was abused! 4. Now her mom is trying to get it banned, but the school district isn’t taking it away, in fact they are just changing the policy so that it doesn’t matter if it’s the same sex giving the spankings.
Now that you know the story, I will give you my thoughts on the subject! B. I honestly didn’t’ realize that it was still okay to spank students! I have two different opinions about this: 1. Part of me thinks this is awesome! I would love to get out my aggression on the back sides of my toughest students!! This would at least make me feel better and help me and my anger management! Actually, I am completely joking! This is just not appropriate for the present time in education. 2. However, the rational and logical side of me feels like this is one of those out of date rules that needs to be re addressed and probably done away with. If that really is true about leaving large red blisters on Taylor’s butt, then I think they may have gone too far! 3. How would someone know if hey are spanking too hard or not? I don’t think that anyone can be consistent with the amount of pressure in the paddle and I think that there would be problems with people, literally “abusing” the policy if it was practiced too much! II.
CONCLUSION A. Today I have told you a story about a teen getting spanked at school and then I gave you my thoughts about it.
B. Watch out next time you think twice about breaking school rules or cheating! You never know what type of laws might be used for your punishment!
