Dear colleagues, We are pleased to announce the
2nd INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP
SPINE LOADING AND DEFORMATION 18‐20 May 2017 Julius Wolff Institute Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin After a successful meeting in July 2015 (http://workshop.spine‐biomechanics.com), the organizing team is pleased to invite you to participate at the coming 2nd International Workshop on Spine Loading and Deformation which will, once again, be held at the Julius Wolff Institute, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin on May 18‐20, 2017. The workshop aims to bring researchers working in different related disciplines and fields of application (biomechanics, orthopedics, biological science, sport science and ergonomics) together in order to share and discuss their recent works on the spine and re‐examine the potentials of their findings. The research topics cover trunk loads and motions (measurements/predictions), e.g., during sports and occupational tasks, in vitro, in vivo and computational work on spine deformation, seated vibration, etc. with focus on the lumbar and thoracic regions of the spine.
Abstract submission: You are kindly invited to submit a one‐page abstract of about 250‐300 words before November 30, 2016. The abstract should be submitted in MS WORD format via email to WS2017@spine‐biomechanics.com. It should include a comprehensive title with all authors and affiliations and not more than one figure/table. Moreover, it should describe in sufficient details the objectives, methodology and results/discussion.
After acceptance by an evaluation committee, each speaker (with only one presentation per speaker) is expected to give a 15 minutes oral presentation (excluding question period/discussion) of the work presented in the abstract. Manuscript submission: Upon acceptance of an abstract, a speaker should also prepare an original manuscript of the research work presented in the abstract and submit it as a full‐length (or short communication) research paper directly via EES to the Journal of Biomechanics before May 31, 2017. The accepted manuscripts, after regular stringent journal peer‐review process, will be published once again in a special issue of the Journal of Biomechanics (e.g., see J Biomechanics 49 (6) (2016) 813‐982). Workshop fees: (Including: Participation in the workshop, coffee breaks, lunches, workshop dinner) For participants without oral presentation: Members of universities and hospitals: 300 € Others: 500 € For participants with oral presentation (speakers with an accepted abstract): No workshop fee and free hotel room for 2 nights including breakfast (May 18‐20) for speakers from Europe for 3 nights including breakfast (May 17‐20) for speakers from outside Europe If necessary, we will organize an additional night till May 21. The number of participants is limited to 100. More details about registration will follow after abstract evaluation.
We welcome you in Berlin. Please feel free to pass this e‐mail on to those likely interested to participate in this workshop.
