PREFACE To do a research study for the BSc Human Resource Management Degree is a compulsory requirement. However, the experience suggests that there is a scarcity of books that solve most of the problems a research student encounters in carrying out a human resource management research that is systematic and scientific. Of course there are some very good books in business research methods written by foreign authors. My experience reveals that most of the Sri Lankan students have no access to those books and those who have an access mostly find them difficult to understand. Also students need more specific guidelines so that they can successfully complete the research studies. Considering the above I decided to write a good book on research methods with special reference to human resource management. The current book is the first attempt towards the aim of developing a good book on Research Methods in Human Resource Management. This book is part one and part two will be released in near future. The books will have questions and answers, which I usually use for my teaching purposes. May this book contribute to enhance quality of teaching and effectiveness of learning in Research Methods in Human Resource Management and Related Disciplines! This is my heart- felt wish.I am indeed grateful to those whose ideas and other efforts helped me to develop this book. Dr. Henarath H D N P Opatha 129/5
