Stepping Stones ‐ Lead Teacher Kaleidoscope Preschool Supervisor Kids & Company Program Manager Responsible for the overall implementation of the Stepping Stones Program. Essential Functions  Understands and implements Stepping Stones program philosophy, policies and procedures.  Plans, prepares and leads culturally‐sensitive, developmentally appropriate activities and special events according to NAEYC accreditation guidelines, and based on Reggio Emilia philosophy and individual needs of students.  Develops & maintains a safe and healthy environment for children by following program health and safety guidelines and procedures and practicing appropriate behavior guidance techniques.  Develops an environment, curriculum and daily schedule that allows children to assume responsibility for successful peer interactions and choices and one that meets the interest and developmental needs of each child.  Observes and records developmental progress, individual needs, and goals for each child using the Work Sampling System.  Provides frequent oral and written communication with parents regarding their child, classroom activities, as well as helpful resource information.  Supervises, directs and evaluates the performance of the preschool teacher, assistants and volunteers.  Maintains a strong partnership with Kids & Company, and a direct relationship with the school principal and Kindergarten teachers.

Creates effective systems for communication with co‐workers, school personnel, administration, and families regarding daily program operations. Plans, organizes, and supervises age appropriate field trips and special events. Purchases and maintains an inventory of developmentally appropriate equipment and supplies based on budget guidelines. Promotes a positive image of the program by maintaining open and positive communication between site, school staff, parents and community. Facilitates an orientation procedure for parents, children and provides an ongoing parent involvement component. Facilitates an orientation procedure for new staff and provides information regarding ongoing staff development opportunities. Participates with supervisors in an ongoing self‐performance review. Initiates and maintains accurate attendance records, permission forms, time cards, vouchers, and any other business forms as needed. Creates a vision for program direction; sets goals that align with program and district philosophy; and facilitates and implements a plan for reaching them. Acts as a liaison between school personnel, administration, families and program staff. Other tasks and responsibilities as delegated by the supervisors.

Minimum Qualifications: 1. Meets requirements under "Standards of Group Day Care of Preschool and School‐Age Children, for teachers, DHS Rule 3", Department of State of Minnesota. 2. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with young children and parents.

3. Creativity in planning developmentally appropriate curriculum. 4. Ability to supervise staff. 5. Good communication skills. 6. Good organizational skills. 7. Dependability. 8. Knowledgeable about the developmental needs of children. 9. Ability to mediate and problem solve. 10. Ability to work independently and take initiative. 11. Maintains First Aid and CPR certification. 12. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and positively as a member of a management team. 13.
