Summer skating at the Toronto Cricket Skating & Curling Club runs under the direction of Brian Orser and Tracy Wilson along with an exceptional staff of professional coaches. This is a private, members only club. During the summer months, the club allows non-members to participate in certain club activities.

Program Information Summer schedule commences on Monday, June 23 and ends on Friday, August 15. Ice Surface The skating rink is a modern well-ventilated rink measuring 190’ by 87’, ideal for freeskate, pairs, dance and skills. Jumping Harness This teaching aid is a helpful asset to improve your jumping technique. You may use the harness only with coach assistance. Video Equipment Many coaches on staff are using sport video analysis systems such as Dartfish.

Summer school to Fall Bridging Policy Any non-member who skates at the TCSCC summer program may not participate in the fall skating program unless they and their families have begun the formal membership application process in August. Failure to initiate the membership process in August will result in the disruption of skating while the standard membership application procedure is followed. Summer Program Design This program is designed to emphasize all aspects of a skater’s development, including the art of edge work, performance, interpretation and technical elements.

Stroking Clinics Competitive A, Junior Elite and Senior Elite programs include daily stroking clinics with Brian Orser/Tracy Wilson, assisted by Andrew Hallam. Competitive B stroking clinics are led by a variety of club coaches. Off-Ice Classes The weekly off-ice program is taught by highly rated instructors. Classes are sport specific and are designed to develop and enhance on-ice performance. Friday Seminars Friday on-ice seminars will be led by Brian Orser, Tracy Wilson, and special guest instructors. In the past this has included Anne Schelter and Jeffrey Buttle. Dependant on the week’s schedule a fee will be added to reflect the seminar cost. Simulations Supervised simulations will be held on alternate Fridays (or as needed) in the specified time. $10 per skater. Programming Programming is available to registered summer skaters Monday to Thursday from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. Skaters MUST be working with their coach/ choreographer. Food Absolutely no outside food or drink is permitted in the Club. Each skater will be assigned a temporary club number and will have access to the club Snack Bar.

FREESKATING PROGRAMS COMPETITIVE B – Recommended that the skater has passed the complete Preliminary Freeskate test. Minimum 4-week booking. COMPETITIVE A - Must have passed the complete Jr. Silver Freeskate test. Minimum 4-week booking. JUNIOR ELITE – Must meet at least two criteria: * Must have competed at the Novice Sectional or Pre-Novice National level or higher. * Clean and consistent 2A or any triple jump * Intention to compete at the Novice level or higher for the 2014/2015 season SENIOR ELITE – Must meet at least two criteria: * Must have competed at the Senior Sectional or Junior Challenge level *Two different triple jumps clean and consistent * Intention to compete at the Senior level for the 2014/2015 season All session assignments are subject to the approval of the Skating Consultants and may be changed at any time to the benefit of all skaters. Please include a recent competition report card with registration package. All non-club members will be charged the nonmembers privilege fee in addition to regular membership fees. ADULT SKATING PROGRAMS Adult summer skating is available to skaters who are 16 years of age or older. Scheduled ice time Monday through Thursday includes 1 hour of Open Dance (mixed levels) and 1 hour of Adult General. All memberships include Saturday Adult ice times. APPLICATION INFORMATION All skaters must be registered with Skate Canada for the 2013-2014 season. Coaching arrangements must be made privately with a TCSCC coach prior to submission of application. TCSCC reserves the right to alter programs and schedules without notice. Sessions cancelled due to Skate Canada tests or circumstances beyond the club’s control are not subject to refund. No make-up sessions/days are offered due to absences. Refunds (less administration fee of $50) will be given until Friday, May 23, 2014. No refund will be given thereafter unless a medical certificate is forwarded to the Skating Office. TCSCC members will have registration priority for figure skating programs until April 1, 2014.

NON-MEMBER RESTRICTIONS

As a club guest, your activities within the club are restricted to the skating rink only. Non-members are not permitted to use other facilities such as the:

All summer skaters must supply a valid credit card (VISA/MC only) upon registration. You will then be assigned a temporary club number to which all of your programming and lessons will be billed. This number will also allow you signing privileges at the club snack bar.

o  Gym o  Tennis/Squash Courts The pool is available to skaters. Please enquire about drop-in fees. Non-members are not permitted to bring visitors to the club. Minors may be accompanied by one adult only. Parking on the premises is for members only. Parking is available in the Armour Heights School lot on the north side of Wilson Ave. Please check in with reception when entering the club. SKATING LOUNGE 1. The Skating Lounge and Snack Bar areas are NOT to be used as areas for putting on or taking off skates. The Skate Changing Room or rink area is available for that purpose. 2. Change of skating clothing is only to be done in the locker or change rooms and not in the Skate Changing Room (rinkside). 3. Skate guards MUST be worn at all times when outside the rink enclosure. 4. Skate bags, coats, sweaters and other items must not be left unattended in the lounge. Seating may not be reserved. SKATING ETIQUETTE No skater or parent is permitted to interrupt a coach during another skater’s private lesson. Parents are not permitted to enter the rink area during a skating session unless assisting with skate tying or at the request of a coach. Priority or right of way must be given to the skater whose music is being played – including pattern ice dancing. All skaters should familiarize themselves with the various dance patterns to ensure that right-of-way is given without risk or injury. Spins are expected to be practiced in the centre of the ice.

___________________________________________ POWER EDGE Power Edge will be offered at the end of August: Week 1 – August 18 – 22, 2014 Week 2 – August 25 – 29, 2014 This course will run from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm each day and will include 2 hours of on-ice instruction and one hour of off-ice instruction. Power Edge is a great way to jump-start the hockey season. The Power Edge course combines the power of hockey with the agility and finesse of figure skating and focuses on balance, turns and edges. Sessions will be grouped by age and skating level. Power Edge coaches are Ed Bahoric, Misha Bahoric and Geoff Dionisio. All three coaches are experienced power skating and figure skating coaches, and very adept at planning and implementing a challenging and fun program. MEMBERSHIP FEES $310/WK – payable by cheque only. TCSCC members have registration priority for Power Edge until May 1, 2014.
