Course Evaluation (Folder material – Course evaluation)

NOTES: st nd 1. Half of the TOEFL book is used in the 1 semester of the course and the other half, in the 2 semester. As for the ECPE book, a different one is used in each semester. 2. The CD-ROM that comes with the Longman Preparation Course for the TOEFL Test - iBT should be used primarily by the students at home. (Please assign homework from it from time to time). However, you can also use the CD-ROM in class. (It’s installed in every computer, as well as the Final Michigan ECPE Skills Booster Multi-ROM.) 3. Make sure to do in class what students can’t do on their own – namely, the listening and speaking sections of both tests and the TOEFL integrated writing tasks. 4. Please don’t use the Speaking Tests in the Final Michigan ECPE Skills Booster since they don’t reflect the ECPE Speaking Test. Replace them with the suggested wiki material. 5. Assess your students’ writing and speaking using the TOEFL/ECPE rubrics. Always give students feedback on their performance and suggest ways to improve it. 6. Assign homework every class. Explain to students that passing the proficiency tests will also depend on how much studying they do on their own. 7. Check the wiki for more extra material. 8. Revision to the ECPE in 2013: ECPE Cloze Section The ECPE cloze section now features two shorter cloze passages with ten items each. The total number of items to be answered has not changed, but examinees have a greater variety of topics to engage with. ECPE Preliminary Test Cambridge Michigan Language Assessments has decided to discontinue the ECPE Preliminary Test and replace it with ECPE practice materials.
