In these days of deep cuts in the California education budget, the planetarium is a low-cost solution to augment science and astronomy education for students, grades K-12. Live, interactive programs incorporate state and federal science standard guidelines.

Over 20,000 children visit the Tessmann Planetarium each year. But many schools are finding it difficult to send their students on field trips in these challenging economic times in California.

Where are you? Explore the night sky and travel

the life and death of stars. Why do most stars shrink into white dwarves? Why do some stars destroy themselves in cataclysmic supernovas? Which stars are destined to become the most irresistible force in the universe, the enigmatic black hole? Find out what happens when you try to enter a black hole. And just what is “spaghettification?”

We will help your scouts attain their merit badges, loops, patches, beads, and pins. If you are a senior or live in a senior community, we are an excellent low cost local Orange County outing for your group. Ideal for family groups as well.

Through the Santa Ana Foundation, you can sponsor a field trip and send a school on a journey through the universe. Your donation will allow students and teachers to “blast off” on a memorable learning experience. Your donation also provides for the cost of round-trip transportation.
