Nov 18, 2013 ... The Physical Agents. (Electromagnetic Fields) Directive. Overview for Stakeholders. 18 November 2013. The Training Centre, Chilton.
Course Outline The Training Centre Centre for Radiation, Chemical and Environmental Hazards Public Health England Chilton Didcot Oxfordshire OX11 0RQ UK

The aim of the course is to provide an overview of the Physical Agents (Electromagnetic Fields) Directive, which lays down the minimum health and safety requirements for exposure of workers to electromagnetic fields (EMFs). The Directive will be implemented in the UK legal system in 2016, and industries will need to provide proof of compliance. The Directive is based on exposure action levels and limit values, which aim to prevent established adverse health effects. Exceeding action levels does not necessarily mean biological thresholds have been exceeded, as worst-case exposure conditions have been assumed and conservative margins introduced. Various case studies will be considered, taken from a number of industry sectors that are affected by the Directive, including the electricity, HF/MF broadcasting, induction heating, RF welding, electronic security/surveillance and telecommunications industries.

The Physical Agents (Electromagnetic Fields) Directive Overview for Stakeholders

A representative from the Health and Safety Executive will present a talk on progress towards transposition and the proposed legislative package in the UK.

Delegates The course is intended to help decision-makers and health and safety professionals in the manufacturing and service industries to become familiar with the requirements of the Directive.
