Remarks This conference will cover a wide range of interdisciplinary and current research topics related to advanced materials such as electronic materials, nanomaterials, bio-nanomaterials, zero band-gap materials and composites. These materials have numerous applications in electronics, biotechnology and energy harvesting. The importance of nano-science and engineering has been well documented by both industrial and academic communities worldwide. It is believed that breakthroughs in nano-science and technology will change all aspects of human life in such diverse areas as, energy, biomedicine, sensing, environment, and security. The conference is intended to provide a forum for researchers and educators around the world to exchange state-of-the-art research and development and identify research needs and opportunities in these emerging fields. The primary objectives of this conference are to: 

Facilitate interaction between researchers working in the fields of development and application of materials, with a special emphasis on electronics, energy, biotechnology and environment;



Provide scientists, engineers, graduate students and other professionals with a forum to actively engage in research discussions, and professional development; and



Create opportunities for the next generation workforce to develop their professional skills.

The conference will include plenary speeches, Invited presentations, contributed presentations and poster presentations. The plenary sessions have six excellent presentations in the field of electronics materials, nanomaterials, biomaterials, synthetic biomaterials, and nanodevices. Also, the contents are enriched by lunch speech in natural products and banquet speech related to medicine and biomaterials. Invited and contributed papers (including posters) cover a broad range of advanced materials research. These topics address timely and important issues around the globe. The conference provides opportunities for senior undergraduate students, graduate students and post doctoral researchers to actively engage in research discussions, and professional development. There will be awards for the best oral presentations. We hope participants will enjoy the technical program of this conference.

Conference Information Registration Conference registration is located at the 8th floor of KGU media center. Registration desk is open during conference period (9.0 am - 6.00 pm).

Badges You will receive a conference badge with your registration materials. Please wear your name badge throughout the conference.

Copyright Form Copy right forms are included in your registration material. If you submit a manuscript, please return the completed copyright form at the registration desk before you leave.

Conference Fee Registration fee is required for all participants. Only VISA and master credit cards will be accepted at the registration desk. Proper ID and credit card should bring for registration purpose.

Payment Receipts If you did not receive a receipt for your registration, you can ask staff members at registration desk for a copy of your receipt.

Certificates If you need a certificate for participation, please request it from the staff members at registration desk.

Oral Presentations The duration of speech depends on the category: plenary talks (45 min), invited talks (25 min) and regular presentations (20 min). These times include question and answers. Power point projectors and laptop computers will be provided.

Poster Presentations We will have poster presentations. They will be displayed from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm on August 9th. Please prepare your poster approximately 1 m x 1 m (3.5 ft x 3.5 ft). *Poster Brief: Poster briefing will be conducted before the poster session. You are requested to give 3 min power-point presentation for each poster (2-3 slides). (Participation is optional).

Other Important Information No weapon or other harmful item is allowed within the conference premise. Please set vibrator mode (I.e. turn off the ringer) of your mobile phone in the conference room. Also, please do not use photoflash during the conference because it distracts the speaker as well as audience.

Banquet Information

There will be a Banquet at 6.30-8.30 pm on August 8th. Participation is optional. It will cost Japanese yen 3,000 per person. If you are interested you can pay at the registration desk in cash. Conference Co-Chairs Dr. Ahalapitiya H Jayatissa (Jay) is an Associate Professor of Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of Toledo (UT) in Ohio, USA. His current research is in the areas of synthesis and application of nanomaterials, semiconductor devices, Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) and energy conversion and storage devices. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), DARPA and the Department of Energy, USA. He is a recipient of prestigious NSF CAREER Award in 2003 for his research. Jay also won the outstanding faculty research award in Engineering in 2011 and Excellence in Supervision of Undergraduate Research Award in 2012. Prior to join UT, he had been working at the Imaging Device Division at the Research and Technical Laboratory (STRL) of Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) in Tokyo and Materials and Chemistry Divisions in Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) in USA. He has authored/coauthored more than 120 refereed papers and conference proceedings. He has obtained his Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering from Shizuoka University in Japan (1995). Jay earned his BS in Physical Science with honors and MPhil in Physics from the University of Ruhuna. He is a winner of Scholarship from Japan Ministry of Education (MONBUSHO, 1992) for his PhD studies and a Research fellowship from Science and Technology Corporation in Japan (JST, 1996). He is a senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE, 2000) and the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME, 2000). Jay is also an active member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME, 2000) and International Society for Optical Engineers (SPIE, 2000). Dr. Keiichiro Sano is a Professor of Department of Human Environmental Design at Kanto Gakuin University (KGU) in Yokohama, Japan. Dr. Sano is a native of Shizuoka prefecture in Japan. He received his B.S and M.S. degrees in 1985 and 1987 from the department of Industrial Chemistry in the Shibaura Institute of Technology. He obtained his Ph.D. in electronic materials from Shizuoka University in 1997. He had been developing some automotive materials as a scientist of SUZUKI Motor Corporation from 1987 to 2003. He received the Asahara Award from the Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan (JSAE) in 1997. He had been serving as the general manager at Yamanashi Institute of Environmental Sciences from 2003 to 2006. Prior to join KGU, he had been serving as an Associate Professor of University of Shizuoka from 2006 to 2008. He is a faculty member of Kanto Gakuin University since 2008. Also, he is the director in the promotion section of Industry-Government-University relation at KGU. He had developed GFRP recycling method and application of polyphenolas deodorant for FRP. His research interest includes investigating CFRP recycling method and green polymer.
