Additionally, fans can follow the Titans through social media platforms, including facebook.com/titans and Google+. On Twitter, users can follow the team at @tennesseetitans and also use the hashtag #TitansDraft. TITANS PICKS The Titans currently hold one pick in all seven rounds. For the first time since 2007, they did not receive any compensatory draft choices, which were awarded based on net unrestricted free agency losses in 2011. The Titans still could use trades to deal or acquire additional picks. Draft order is based upon reverse finish in the NFL standings. The Titans, the lone squad in 2011 to finish 9-7 and not make

the playoffs, are assigned to the 20th overall position in each of the seven rounds (actual pick in the third round is 19th due to Oakland’s pick being exercised in the 2011 supplemental draft). The 20th slot is the lowest the Titans have picked in the first round since 2009, when they had the 30th choice. Only once before in franchise history have the Titans/Oilers possessed the 20th overall pick in the draft. In 1987, they used the selection on wideout Haywood Jeffires from N.C. State. Jeffires went on to become the second-leading receiver in franchise history with 515 career catches. Other notable 20th-overall picks through the years include defensive end Jack Youngblood (1971 by the L.A. Rams), safety Steve Atwater (1989 by Denver), and more recently linebacker Tamba Hali (2006 by Kansas City), cornerback Aqib Talib (2008 by Tampa Bay) and tight end Brandon Pettigrew (2009 by Detroit). Last year’s 20th pick, defensive end Adrian Clayborn, went to Tampa Bay and notched 7.5 sacks as a rookie. The Titans’ remaining overall selection numbers include pick 52 (second round), 82 (third), 115 (fourth), 155 (fifth), 190 (sixth) and 227 (seventh).

FRONT OFFICE PROMOTIONS Only three weeks removed from their 2011 season finale, Titans owner K.S. “Bud” Adams, Jr. announced significant restructuring within the Titans front office that included Webster’s promotion. Mike Reinfeldt, who held the title of general manager since 2007, simultaneously was promoted to senior executive vice president/chief operating officer. Additionally, Lake Dawson was given the title of vice president of player personnel. Reinfeldt now oversees both football and non-football aspects of the organization, continued on page 2

Tennessee Titans 2012 Draft Preview

#TitansDraft while Webster controls the day-to-day football operations for the team. Webster, age 49, has six total years of experience heading up the player personnel departments on three different teams—two years with the Titans (2010–2011), four with the Seattle Seahawks (2006–2009) and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2005). His time in Seattle included a stint as interim general manager in 2009. He has spent the majority of his career with the Buccaneers, gaining experience as a regional scout for 10 seasons (1988, 1992–2000), director of pro personnel for three seasons (1989–1991) and director of college scouting for four years (2001–2004). “What I like to do is study players and personnel, and that will be a big part of who I am as a GM,” Webster said. “You kind of have to stick with what you know, and that’s what I’ll do. “All of us want a certain kind of player here. We want good, talented players that are also hard workers and tough guys and the type of men that the people in Nashville can be proud of.” A graduate of Ole Miss, Webster began his career as an assistant coach with one-year stops at Southwestern Louisiana, Alabama and Tulsa. Reinfeldt described Webster as “a very hard worker” with a “great eye for talent.” He added: “He does all the little detail things that you have to do in this business. I think he’s very good with people, he’s a good listener, he’s good with the coaches, and he’s good with the scouts. All of the things that make a good GM, he’s very capable of doing those things.” RECENT DRAFT HISTORY Reinfeldt, a former Oilers safety who was hired as general manager in February 2007, led the team’s draft efforts for five years Of the 46 players drafted by the Titans from 2007 through 2011, 30 (65 percent) are still on the roster to form the nucleus of the club. Three of Reinfeldt’s picks—safety Michael Griffin (first round in 2007), running back Chris Johnson (first round in 2008) and wide receiver/ returner Marc Mariani (seventh round in 2010)—have been selected to the Pro Bowl. Another first-rounder, wide receiver Kenny Britt (2009), led the team in receiving yards in each of his two seasons before suffering a season-ending knee injury in the third game of 2011. Defensive end Derrick Morgan, a first-round selection in 2010, missed most of his rookie season with a knee injury but returned to appear in 15 games in his second campaign. Last year, the Titans received significant contributions from the rookie class, which was headed by quarterback Jake Locker. All nine draft picks spent the entire 17 weeks of the regular season on the 53-man roster, and several played 2011 DRAFT CLASS key roles. Locker was selected with the eighth Rnd Pos Player overall pick after a standout career at the Uni1 QB Jake Locker versity of Washington. He made a positive 2 LB Akeem Ayers 3 DT Jurrell Casey first impression in limited duty in the regular 4 LB Colin McCarthy season behind starter Matt Hasselbeck. 4 RB Jamie Harper Locker appeared in five total contests and 5 DT Karl Klug passed for 542 yards and four touchdowns 6 T Byron Stingily without throwing an interception. He add7 DT Zach Clayton ed 56 yards and one rushing touchdown. 7 CB Tommie Campbell Against the Saints on Dec. 11, he passed for 282 yards, the second-highest total in franchise history by a rookie signal caller (331 by Jacky Lee on Nov. 25, 1960). While Locker took most of his rookie campaign to grow in a reserve role, the Titans unearthed several defensive rookies that made an immediate impact, including third-round pick Jurrell Casey and fifth-rounder Karl Klug at defensive tackle. Casey was entrenched all season as a starter (15 starts), led the team’s defensive linemen with 74 tackles and added 2.5

sacks. Meanwhile, Klug was one of the team’s best pass rushers. He led the team with seven sacks, which tied for sixth place among all NFL rookies and tied for fourth among all NFL defensive tackles. Rookie linebackers Akeem Ayers (second-round pick) and Colin McCarthy (fourth-round pick) also became integral parts of the defense. Ayers, the first Titans rookie to start all 16 games since safety Tank Williams in 2002, led all Titans linebackers with 88 tackles, the second-highest total for a Titans rookie since 1999 (103 by Alterraun Verner in 2010). McCarthy was not far behind, totaling 76 tackles and a team-high eight tackles for loss despite not entering the starting lineup until after midseason.

TITANS ON DRAFT DAY TITANS DRAFT HEADQUARTERS While the NFL conducts the draft from New York, the Titans are situated in Nashville at Baptist Sports Park, located in MetroCenter. Titans executives, personnel staff and coaches are stationed at a long conference table in the draft room, located on the second floor of the team’s facility. Members of the local media also station themselves at the Nashville headquarters. Inside the rectangular-shaped draft room, the four white, magnetic walls are lined from top to bottom with information on NFL personnel. Every team’s current roster is displayed on two walls, broken down by position within each club. On another wall, hundreds of draft-eligible players are divided among position groups and ranked by grades, which place number values on the team’s final assessment of the players. A “Top 150” board ranks draftees regardless of position. Finally, another of the room’s walls is divided in half, listing the order of draft picks by team (sometimes called the “trade grid”) and by round. With each draft selection, the media has access to the player and at least two other members of the organization. Typically after each pick, head coach Mike Munchak and a Titans scout or assistant coach are made available to answer questions in the Baptist Sports Park auditorium. Additionally, the media is placed on a conference call with each of the team’s picks. At the conclusion of each day of the draft, general manager Ruston Webster is available to reporters. The team also typically brings its top one or two selections to team headquarters to meet with reporters during draft weekend. The team’s draft class is brought together for the first time at Baptist Sports Park, along with the prospects signed as undrafted free agents, two weeks after the draft. NFL rules allow for a three-day rookie minicamp, during which time the players go through orientation, positional meetings, practice and media interviews. The rookies may then commence taking part in the team’s regular offseason training program with veterans on May 16, barring any remaining final exams at their respective universities.

WHO’S IN NEW YORK? Representatives of all 32 NFL clubs will be present at Radio City Music Hall in New York. The representatives are in constant phone contact with their clubs, who instruct the representatives to turn in a card with the selected player’s name on it. TYPICAL TIMELINE FOR EACH PICK The following is a typical series of events for each draft pick the Titans make: ¾ The Titans’ personnel staff, coaches and other staff members are stationed in the draft room on the second floor of Baptist Sports Park in Nashville, monitoring the draft as their selection nears and updating their draft board. The team has a separate, direct phone line dedicated to each of the other 31 NFL clubs for use in discussing trades. ¾ The Titans go “on the clock” (10 minutes for Round 1, seven minutes for Round 2, five minutes for Rounds 3-7) immediately following the announcement of the previous team’s pick. ¾ After the organization decides upon the pick, Munchak calls the player on the phone to inform him of the selection. ¾ Webster communicates the pick to the team’s draft representatives (Fitzgerald Sr., Fitzgerald Jr. and Pritts) at Radio City Music Hall in New York. ¾ The team representatives in New York submit a card to NFL personnel with the player’s name, school and position. ¾ The selection is announced at the podium in Radio City Music Hall by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell (first round) or vice president Gene Washington (second through seventh rounds). ¾ Media at Baptist Sports Park in Nashville receive bios and other information on the selection and are placed on a conference call with the player. ¾ Munchak and another member of the team’s coaching or scouting staff meet with the media in the Baptist Sports Park auditorium to answer questions on the player who was just selected. ¾ The process repeats itself until the end of the draft day, when Webster and Munchak meet with the media for a final time. During the second day, the team’s top pick is typically flown into Nashville to meet with the media.

Tennessee Titans 2012 Draft Preview

REINFELDT ELEVATED TO C.O.O. In 2012, Mike Reinfeldt will embark on his 33rd season in the NFL and his 14th overall season with the Oilers/Titans franchise. This year, however, will be his first as senior executive vice president/chief operating officer. He was elevated to the position on Jan. 18 after spending five seasons as executive vice president/general manager. Originally an All-Pro safety with the Oilers from 1976-83, he re-joined the franchise in 2007 after spending seven years with the Seattle Seahawks. In his 20 post-playing years as an NFL executive with Tennessee, Seattle and Green Bay, Reinfeldt’s teams have won a combined seven division titles, made 12 playoff appearances, four NFC Championship game appearances, three Super Bowl appearances, captured one world title (1996) and amassed 14 winning seasons. In 2011, Reinfeldt was heavily involved in identifying former offensive line coach Mike Munchak as the team’s new head coach. Under Reinfeldt’s watch, the Titans drafted five rookie classes. Two of his first-round picks have been selected to the Pro Bowl: safety Michael Griffin (2007 first-rounder) and running back Chris Johnson (2008). Griffin’s 17 career interceptions rank 17th in franchise history, while Johnson leads the NFL in rushing yards (5,645 through 2011) since his arrival. In 2009, Reinfeldt and the Titans selected Rutgers wide receiver Kenny Britt in the first round. Britt led the team in receiving yards in each of his first two campaigns, and his 17.6-yard receiving average during those two years ranked sixth in the NFL. Britt’s 2011 campaign was cut short due to an ACL injury. The Titans’ first-round pick in 2010, defensive end Derrick Morgan, suffered a season-ending ACL injury four games into his rookie season. He returned in 2011 to notch 2.5 sacks and lead the Titans with 20 quarterback pressures. The 2010 draft crop also produced a Pro Bowl performer, as seventhrounder Marc Mariani made the AFC squad as a returner in his rookie season. The 2011 draft brought former University of Washington quarterback Jake Locker to the Titans. With veteran Matt Hasselbeck starting all 16 games in 2011, Locker served as the second-string quarterback as a rookie. He appeared in five total contests and passed for 542 yards and four touchdowns without throwing an interception. He added 56 yards and one rushing touchdown. On the defensive side of the ball, the 2011 draft class made significant contributions. Third-round pick Jurrell Casey and fifth-rounder Karl Klug played extensively at defensive tackle, while second-round pick Akeem Ayers and fourth-round selection Colin McCarthy emerged as starting linebackers. Reinfeldt’s five free agency classes as general manager included key players like cornerback Nick Harper, wide receiver Justin Gage, guard Jake Scott, wide receiver Nate Washington, defensive end Jason Babin and linebacker Will Witherspoon. His 2011 free agent crop included quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, defensive tackle Shaun Smith, tight end Daniel Graham, safety Jordan Babineaux and linebacker Barrett Ruud. Reinfeldt also has worked to retain several key players through contract extensions. Since the start of the 2008 offseason, several starters have been signed to new, multi-year deals to remain with the Titans: fullback Ahmard Hall, center Eugene Amano, cornerback Cortland Finnegan, bookend offensive tackles Michael Roos and David Stewart, kicker Rob Bironas, punter Brett Kern, running back Chris Johnson and tight end Craig Stevens. Additionally, Reinfeldt helped bring aboard new members of the team’s administration upon his arrival, including current general manager Ruston Webster, vice president of player personnel Lake Dawson and vice president of football administration Vincent Marino. In Seattle, Reinfeldt last held the title of vice president of football administration and was responsible for player contract negotiations, salary

cap management, player evaluations and numerous aspects of the day-today football operations. In eight seasons with the Packers, he served a number of roles, including chief financial officer for three years (1991-93) and vice president of administration from 1994-98. Before joining the Packers in 1991, Reinfeldt spent three years (198890) at the University of Southern California as the associate athletic director and spent another three years (1985-88) with the L.A. Raiders as CFO. A former safety for the Oilers franchise from 1976-83, Reinfeldt earned Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors in 1979. He ranks seventh on the club’s career interception list with 26 and matched the team record for interceptions in a season with 12 in 1979. An undrafted free agent out of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, he originally signed with the Oakland Raiders and played in two games before being released and signed by the Oilers. WEBSTER’S FIRST DRAFT AS GM The 2012 selection process will be the first overseen by Ruston Webster, who was named general manager on Jan. 18, the same day former G.M. Mike Reinfeldt was promoted to chief operating officer. Webster has six years of experience as a director of player personnel – two years with the Titans, four with the Seattle Seahawks and one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also served as the interim general manager for the Seahawks for the conclusion of the 2009 season, after Tim Ruskell’s departure from the team. In addition to working in pro personnel, Webster served as the director of college scouting for Tampa Bay for four seasons (2001-04) and spent 10 seasons as a regional scout for the Bucs. The draft is a culmination of thousands of hours of work by the club’s personnel department. Eight full-time employees are solely devoted to the acquistion of college talent, starting on the front lines with the college scouts. Information they provide on hundreds of draft-eligible players is used to ultimately determine, on average, nine or 10 draft choices plus a handful of undrafted free agents. Scouts are generally assigned a geographical region to research during the year. They attend countless college practices and games, speak with coaches and watch film of prospects. Below is a breakdown of the Titans’ scouting responsibilities. Scouting responsibilities for the Titans: Ruston Webster: The team’s general manager is entering his first draft in his current post after previously serving as vice president of player personnel. He oversees football operations for the club and is responsible for the acquisition of all players. Lake Dawson: Dawson was promoted to vice president of player personnel early in the 2012 offseason. He helps oversee the pro personnel department and the scouting of all draftable players. Blake Beddingfield: Among his duties as scouting coordinator, he organizes the evaluation and ranking process of NFL draft-eligible prospects. He also scouts a portion of the Southeast, from Kentucky to Louisiana, and crosschecks the top prospects in the draft. Johnny Meads: Scouts the Midwest, from Michigan to the Dakotas. Phil Neri: Crosschecks draft prospects west of the Mississippi River. Cole Proctor: Scouts a large portion of the Southeast, from North Carolina to Florida. Jon Salge: Scouts the Central United States, including Oklahoma, Nebraska and Colorado. Richard Shelton: Scouts the Northeast, from Ohio and Virginia to Maine. Marvin Sunderland: Scouts the West, from Montana to Alaska and Arizona to Hawaii. Brandon Taylor: The team’s combine scout contributes to an alliance between several NFL clubs known as The National. Taylor scouts the Midwest. C.O. Brocato: Since entering the NFL as a scout with the Oilers in 1974, Brocato has become one of the most respected personnel men in the NFL. He currently serves as a scouting consultant. Trey Koziol and Dale Thompson: The club’s two pro personnel assistants also evaluate players during the draft process.

STOCKING THE ROSTER ALL-TIME 20TH OVERALL PICKS

The draft remains the primary source of roster talent for the Titans. At the conclusion of the 2011 season, 34 of the 59 players on the team’s active roster and injured reserve list were originally drafted by the team. In particular, the seven most recent drafts have supplied many of the current Tennessee players. The Titans selected 67 players from 2005 through 2011, a number that tied for first in the NFL in that period. Of that group of Titans, 35 players were still on the roster, reserve lists or practice squad at the conclusion of the 2011 season.

THE 20TH PICK Draft order is based upon reverse finish in the NFL standings. The Titans, the lone squad in 2011 to finish 9-7 and not make the playoffs, are assigned to the 20th overall position in each of the seven rounds (actual pick in the third round is 19th due to Oakland’s pick being exercised in the 2011 supplemental draft).

THE TITANS AND DRAFT TRADES

DAY 3 PICKS

More often than not in recent history, the Titans’ draft is altered by at least one trade. The 2007 and 2011 drafts were the only selection processes in the last 10 years in which the Titans did not deal or acquire picks via trade. They changed position at least once in each draft from 2002-06, including the swapping of choices within the first three rounds for additional picks in 2002, 2004, 2005 and 2006. Under former general manager and current chief operating officer Mike Reinfeldt, the Titans have negotiated a move up in the draft three times. In 2008, they traded up for the first time since 2003. The 2008 trade with Washington allowed them to leap 23 spots in the fourth round to acquire defensive end William Hayes. Then, during the 2009 draft, Tennessee swapped its second-round pick in 2010 for the rights to New England’s 2009 second-round pick. With that pick, the 89th overall selection, the Titans chose tight end Jared Cook. In 2010, Reinfeldt engineered a swap with Seattle. The Titans moved up in the fourth and sixth rounds in exchange for sending running back LenDale White and defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson to the Seahawks. The Titans used their improved positions to select cornerback Alterraun Verner in the fourth round and quarterback Rusty Smith in the sixth. The Titans have not been involved in a trade in the first round since 2004, when they swapped their first- and fifth-rounder with Houston for additional picks in the second, third, fourth and fifth rounds.

The Titans currently hold a pick in each of the final four rounds of the draft (Rounds 4-7). Those selections will take place on Day 3 of the draft on Saturday, April 28. In recent years, the Titans have found a number of “hidden gems” in the second half of the draft who have become productive players and starters. Since 1995, the franchise has found 30 regular starters (started 10 games or more in at least one season unless otherwise noted below) through the years with selections in Rounds 4-7. From the last eight drafts, significant later-round choices who remained starters with the Titans through the 2011 season include guard Eugene Amano (seventh round in 2004), tackle David Stewart (fourth round in 2005), cornerback Cortland Finnegan (seventh round in 2006), guard Leroy Harris (fourth round in 2007), cornerback Jason McCourty (sixth round in 2009), returner Marc Mariani (seventh round in 2010) and linebacker Colin McCarthy (fourth round in 2011). Additional late-round picks expected to play a large role in 2012 include, among others, wide receiver Lavelle Hawkins (fourth round in 2008), cornerback Alterraun Verner (fourth round in 2010) and defensive tackle Karl Klug (fifth round in 2011).

UNDRAFTED SUCCESS

DRAFT PICKS BY POSITION

At the conclusion of Round 7 of the draft, the Titans personnel department remains at work. At that point, general manager Ruston Webster, his staff, head coach Mike Munchak and and his assistants begin the process of contacting undrafted players the team hopes to sign as free agents. In 2011, the undrafted free agent signing process was interrupted due to the NFL lockout. Players were not eligible to sign until a new collective bargaining agreement between the league and the NFL Players Association was reached in late July. When that happened, the Titans secured the rights to 14 players. From the group, three players stayed with the club and spent the season on the practice squad: wide receivers James Kirkendoll and Michael Preston and tight end Cameron Graham. The number of Titans undrafted free agents has gone up the last two years after a four-year decline. The signings went from 12 in 2007, to 10 in 2008, and then to eight in 2009. Then, in 2010, the Titans added 15 players after the draft as rookie free agents, including center Kevin Matthews, who still remains with the club. Additionally, running back LeGarrette Blount found success as a rookie with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2010 after originally signing with the Titans. Prior to 2007, a minimum of 20 undrafted free agent signings were announced by the Titans in every year from 2001 through 2006 (22 in 2001, 20 in 2002, 34 in 2003, 27 in 2004, 36 in 2005 and 23 in 2006). Veteran players currently on the Titans roster who originally entered the NFL as undrafted free agents include safety Jordan Babineaux, linebacker Patrick Bailey, kicker Rob Bironas, cornerback Chris Hawkins, punter Brett Kern, linebacker Kevin Malast, defensive lineman Malcolm Sheppard, defensive tackle Shaun Smith, wide receiver Nate Washington, offensive lineman Fernando Velasco.

In 52 drafts in the history of the Titans organization, the team has drafted more offensive linemen than any other position. There have been a total of 183 tackles, guards and centers drafted, 73 more than the next highest drafted position, running back/fullback, which has had 110 players drafted by the Titans. In 2011, the Titans used their nine draft picks on three defensive linemen (defensive tackles Jurrell Casey, Karl Klug and Zach Clayton), two linebackers (Akeem Ayers and Colin McCarthy), one offensive lineman (Byron Stingily), one running back (Jamie Harper), one cornerback (Tommie Campbell) and one quarterback (Jake Locker). Below is a breakdown of the team’s 758 all-time draft picks by position groups.

SELECTING OFFENSE OR DEFENSE FIRST Since the team’s initial draft as a charter member of the American Football League in 1960, the Titans have made 47 first-round selections, using that pick on an offensive player 26 times and on defense 21 times. On offense, running backs lead the list, having been chosen eight times in the first round, three of which were Heisman Trophy winners: Billy Cannon (1960), Earl Campbell (1978) and Eddie George (1996). The most recent was Chris Johnson, the 24th overall selection in 2008 who went on to rush for 1,228 yards as a rookie and eclipse 2,000 yards in his second season. On the defensive side of the ball, linebackers have been selected the most -- seven times -- by the Titans in the first round. Robert Brazile (1975), Lamar Lathon (1990) and Keith Bulluck (2000) headline the linebackers chosen. A complete breakdown of Tennessee’s first-round selections follows below.

Titans all-time drafts by position group: Position Group No. Draft Picks 1. Offensive Line 183 2. Running Back/Fullback 110 3. Defensive Backs 98 4. Linebacker 95 5. Defensive Line 84 6. Wide Receiver 78 7. Tight End 61 8. Quarterback 38 9. Kicker/Punter 11 For the past five years, more defensive backs have been drafted into the NFL than any other position. Among the entire 254-member 2011 NFL draft class, there were 53 defensive backs selected, the most of any position. The last time another position group out-numbered the defensive backs was 2006, when 50 offensive linemen were chosen, versus 49 corners/safeties. In seven of the last 12 drafts, Tennessee has chosen a defensive player with its initial pick: DE Derrick Morgan (2010), S Michael Griffin (2007), CB Pacman Jones (2005), CB Andre Woolfolk (2003), DT Albert Haynesworth (2002), CB Andre Dyson (second round in 2001) and LB Keith Bulluck (2000). The offensive players selected first by the Titans in the last 10 years include TE Ben Troupe (second round in 2004), QB Vince Young (2006), Chris Johnson (2008), WR Kenny Britt (2009) and QB Jake Locker (2011).

The Titans spent their first two draft picks in 2009 on wide receiver Kenny Britt and defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks.

Since 1994, the first year of the NFL’s current seven-round draft format, the Titans have selected 28 players from the SEC, more than any other conference. The Big Ten is second on the list, having sent 26 players to the organization, followed by the Pac-10 (20; now the Pac-12) and the ACC (16). In 2011, however, it was the Pac-10 that dominated the Titans draft. The first three players the club selected were from the Pac-10: quarterback Jake Locker (first round from Washington), linebacker Akeem Ayers (second round from UCLA) and defensive tackle Jurrell Casey (third round from Souther California). Additionally in 2011, the Titans selected one player from the SEC (Auburn’s Zach Clayton), one from the Big Ten (Iowa’s Karl Klug), one from the Big East (Louisville’s Byron Stingily), and two from the ACC (Miami’s Colin McCarthy and Clemson’s Jamie Harper). Tennessee Titans 2012 Draft Preview

2011 TITANS DRAFT REVIEW The Titans had nine total selections in the 2011 NFL Draft, all of whom spent the entire season on the 53-man roster: quarterback Jake Locker, linebacker Akeem Ayers, defensive tackle Jurrell Casey, linebacker Colin McCarthy, running back Jamie Harper, defensive tackle Karl Klug, tackle Byron Stingily, defensive tackle Zach Clayton and cornerback Tommie Campbell. The 2011 Titans draft class accumulated 97 total games played. Defensively, their rookies tallied an NFL-high 39 games started. It marked the most total starts by a Titans defensive rookie class since the 1999 campaign. Locker made a positive first impression in limited duty in the regular season behind starter Matt Hasselbeck. He appeared in five total contests and passed for 542 yards and four touchdowns without throwing an interception. He added 56 yards and one rushing touchdown. Against the Saints on Dec. Casey was entrenched all season as a starter (15 starts), led the team’s defensive linemen with 74 tackles and added 2.5 sacks. 2011 Titans Draft Picks: ¾ QB Jake Locker (1st round, 8th overall, Washington) Locker passed for 542 yards and four touchdowns without throwing an interception, and he added 56 yards and one rushing touchdown. 2012 FREE AGENCY UPDATE The Titans began the offseason with 18 players due to reach unrestricted free agency. They have re-signed six of those players and retained one—safety Michael Griffin—through the use of the franchise tag. Additionally, they have lost five unrestricted free agents to other teams, and six remained unsigned. Under NFL rules, Griffin may still sign a contract with another team, but the Titans would have the ability to match the contract or be awarded two first-round draft choices from his new team as compensation for losing his services. Unrestricted free agents are players who have completed four or more NFL seasons and whose contracts have expired. They became free to negotiate and sign with any club once the free agency period began on March 13 with no rights held by their old club. In five years together, Alexander averaged 1,500 yards per season (7,504) and earned NFL MVP honors in 2005, when he rushed for a league-leading 1,880 yards and 27 touchdowns. HEAD COACH MIKE MUNCHAK Click For Complete Online Bio On Feb. 7, 2011, the Tennessee Titans hired Mike Munchak to become the 16th head coach in franchise history and the first who was a former player for the team. In his first year on the job, Munchak helped guide the Titans through the uncertainty of the NFL lockout. Although he and his staff did not have an offseason with the players, he guided the Titans to a 9-7 finish and a second-place finish in the AFC South. In the process of leading the Titans to three more wins in 2011 than they recorded in 2010, Munchak became the sixth Titans/Oilers head coach to reach nine wins in his first season. Of the eight NFL head coaches in 2011 who were in their first full season at their current post, only San Francisco’s Jim Harbaugh, whose team had 13 wins, finished with more wins than Munchak. After a 12-year playing career as a guard for the Houston Oilers, Munchak spent three seasons as an offensive assistant/quality control coach. He became the offensive line coach in 1997 and held that position for 14 years. Four of his linemen totaled 10 Pro Bowl invitations, and his offensive lines paved the way for five different running backs to total 11 1,000-yard rushing seasons. In 2001, Munchak became the fifth franchise player to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He earned nine Pro Bowl invitations during his career and was bestowed the honor of having his Oilers No. 63 jersey retired in 1996. As a line coach, Munchak was acknowledged as one of the finest teachers in the game. Only twice during his time coaching the line did he have the benefit of starting the same starting five linemen from one year to the next, and yet the Titans offensive lines were perennially among the best in the NFL. His offensive line allowed the second fewest sacks (28.3 sacks per season) in the NFL from 1997 through 2010. Additionally, the Titans ranked seventh in the league in rushing yards (124.5 yards per game) during the same time period. He helped Bruce Matthews, Brad Hopkins, Michael Roos and Kevin Mawae earn Pro Bowl invitations from his group in addition to helping design protection for Pro Bowlers Eddie George, Steve McNair, Vince Young, Kerry Collins and Chris Johnson. His group aided McNair to NFL co-MVP (2003) and Johnson to Offensive Player of the Year (2009) honors. As a player, Munchak started 156 regular season games (seventh in franchise history) and 10 playoff games for the Oilers between 1982 and 1993. Respected for his play, he was selected to the NFL’s “All Decade” team for the 1980’s. Chronic knee problems led him to retire while still at the top of his game. In his final year, he earned All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors. A versatile player, he started his career in a run-first offense with running back Earl Campbell and transitioned to a pass blocker in the run-n-shoot offense guided by quarterback Warren Moon. He retired on July 21, 1994. A native of Scranton, Pa., Munchak was born on March 5, 1960. He went on to graduate from Penn State University with a degree in business administration in May 1982. The Houston Oilers made him the eighth overall pick and the first offensive lineman selected in the 1982 NFL Draft.
