TPC Components AB - Cad/Cam TPC operates a modern CAD system called IronCAD. The following table provides guidelines for choosing formats to exchange 3D model data between IronCAD and other specific CAD software. Note that the recommended format is dependent on the type of application and whether the data is being imported or exported.

IronCAD operates to the highest level of precision 0.000001. This is because it incorporates the industry standard ACIS solid modelling kernel and Parasolid kernel. —The advantage of this degree of precision is that you can be sure that your customers will be able to read your solid models without difficulty, whether you transfer the data by SAT, IGES or STEP —This is a key requirement for companies who need to send their designs to customers for integration into their products or need to send their designs to subcontractors for manufacture. —Other CAD systems operate at lower levels of solid modelling precision and it can be difficult to read files containing solids from such systems. Please note that: In the case of Pro/Engineer it is necessary to reset two parameters. The first one is ACCURACY LOWER BOUND which must be reset to 0.000001 through Misc. - Load Config. This affects the accuracy of the system. Then the part must be read in and through Setup - Accuracy changed to 0.000001. The part must then be regenerated and can be output through STEP or IGES. IGES always refers to ”trimmed surface” IGES files (version 4.0 or above) If you are having trouble with IGES Import/Export, try using ”trimmed surface, nurbs only” IGES files. STEP always refers to STEP AP203 files When the ACIS version is not specified, any of the following 1.7; 2.0; 2.1; 3.0; 4.0; 7.0 up to 14.0 is acceptable. IronCAD can import the following 3D DXF (.dxf) entities: < 3DFACE - 3 or 4 point polygones < POLYLINE - Type 64 - polyface mesh, in a grid < POLYLINE - Type 128 without Type 64 - polygon mesh
