fROM MY DESK U C MAS UK was launched with an aim to benefit the children of UK to gain a good arithmetic foundation education and a lifetime skills. I feel immensely proud for being the first person to launch this wonderful concept into the western world. Today U C MAS is in the 5th year promoting the education of abacus mental arithmetic with a development of more than 2000 registered students. Throughout these five years we have put continuous effort in improving our quality in presenting, teaching and striving to acquire high educational standards, so that our students are being taught with the best methods focussing on development of their arithmetic and brain skills to help them to rise up to international levels in all fields and have an overall academic performance. U C MAS has already made a significant impact on the mental potentials of children across the world in 42 countries. Our dream is to use this programme to help as many children across this great nation to achieve their maximum mental potentials and enrich them with skills that lasts lifetime. We strongly believe that children are our greatest asset, and that we can shape the destiny of our nation and the world by enriching them with tools and skills that can help them succeed in an ever more competitive global economy. If we successfully manage, motivate, train, develop and inspire them, we can ride their coat tails with great pride to a brighter tomorrow. This newsletter helps me to share a few thoughts with you on education for life. We wish to equip all U C MAS students with necessary skills to face the competitive world. The U C MAS Abacus Mental arithmetic competition, which is the most prestigious event in U C MAS, is being conducted for the 5th time in UK to encourage and motivate the future genius. It gives me great pleasure to see hundreds of students participate enthusiastically from across the country.

MESSAGE BY PROF. DR. DINO WONG, FOUNDER & PRESIDENT OF U C MAS GLOBAL PRINCIPAL OFFICE It is with great pleasure that I take the opportunity to extend my best wishes and warm felicitation to U C MAS (UK) Ltd. on the occasion of the 5th U C MAS UK Abacus & Mental Arithmetic Competition 2009. I am delighted to note that this year's fifth edition of the competition championship remain one of the most anticipated U C MAS event in United Kingdom with the wide and overwhelming response of whiz kids from every corner of the country. It is a known fact that children are the nation builders of tomorrow and to produce well-rounded children with sharper minds is important to strengthen their global competitiveness and to place them in a better position in the knowledge-based economy. U C MAS is a pioneer and leading global organisation that serves in the early childhood education for more than 16 years. Today we are proud to announce that U C MAS has reached yet another major milestone where U C MAS is an internationally and scientifically proven concept that has been expanding to more than 42 countries covering the five continents in the world namely America, Europe, Asia, Oceania and Africa and the number is still growing. At U C MAS, we always stay true to our philosophy “To Discover the Genius Within” and believe in our motto “To learn, To Serve, To Excel”. Hence, we have dedicated ourselves to providing children with the best start in life through quality mental development training and to make significant contribution towards the pursuit of academic excellence, and intelligence for bright and talented leaders of the future. INTERNATIONAL GRADATION EXAM - 2009 The International Gradation exams are conducted once a year for all U C MAS students in UK. The students appear for the exam based on the level they have completed in the U C MAS Course. Akademi Sempoa & Mental Arithmetic U C MAS Sdn. Bhd. Malaysia and the Chineses Zhusuan Association China conduct the Exam. The answer papers are evaluated in Malaysia and the above associations will issue the certificates. ? The Gradation Exam aims to: ? Advocate the learning of Abacus Reckoning and Mental Arithmetic in order

to enhance mental capability ? Affirm one's capability in Abacus Reckoning and Mental Arithmetic to compete in National & International competition and gain self-confidence ? Create an opportunity to be certified by the Zhusuan Association China and to Elevate the academic standard of Abacus ? Measure the capability of the child to the International Standard. U C MAS UK Gradation Exams were held at the respective U C MAS centers in April 2009. Students appeared for nearly 500 Exam papers with 90% positive results.

TO ALL U C MAS UK STUDENTS Launching in 2005 U C MAS UK has spread its roots to strengthen the foundation arithmetic education for the UK children, with well-trained and certified course instructors. At U C MAS UK we ensure that every course instructor is equally qualified and provide training to their students to an international standard. As Grammar is important to master a language, in the same way arithmetic is essential to master mathematics. Through U C MAS children gain mental arithmetic lifetime skills, which is not acquired even after 10 years of schooling. To make the program more and motivating and kids friendly, last year Geetha Saravanan we had introduced a uniform level assessment, interactive progress report and colour Chief Course Moderator coded level completion certificates, this helped the teachers, parent and students to understand the skill developments and level improvements, which was greatly welcomed by all. This year to help the U C MAS UK students in adopting their abstract mental arithmetic skill into their school math, U C MAS UK is extending its service into applying arithmetic from January 2010 which would be more supportive to their academics

ABOUT US U C MAS UK was established and started its operations in the month of January 2005,with its corporate office located at Crown House, Park Royal and now in Kenton, Harrow. Bringing the Concept to UK as a National Franchiser, U C MAS UK has taken the responsibility of spreading the concept to the entire country for the benefit of the children across UK. Ever since the inception, the company grew steadily appointing franchises first in London and slowly moving outside the city. This year U CMAS UK has launched centres outside London in Liverpool, Coventry and will soon be launching in Leeds and Manchester. Today U C MAS UK has reached a total of 2000 registered students all over UK. U C MAS offers abacus mental arithmetic training to students through well-trained and certified Course Instructors and maintains a quality teaching standard with an aim to discover the Genius within every U C MAS child Once again we have come to the most important and memorable moment in U CMAS, the 5th National Abacus & Mental arithmetic Competition. The competition aims to recognise the excellent achievements of U C MAS students in Mental Arithmetic and to encourage U C MAS students towards reaching higher arithmetic standards.

U C MAS UK has so far conducted 4 successful National competitions with various honourable guests and VIP's. Every year there is a constant growth in the participants as well as their performance in arithmetic. Today for this 5th National competition we feel immensely pleased and honoured for having Dr. Dino Wong, founder & president U CMAS education Group Malaysia being present for the occasion. Many people often assume that learning mental arithmetic is merely a method to improve the speed and accuracy of calculations but there is more, because when the children are learning U C MAS Mental Arithmetic they are actually undergoing a process of developing other aspects of the mind. When the children have acquired an astonishing calculation speed, it shows their skills are actually only the end result of having developed the following mental abilities: - concentration, memory, creativity, observation, visualization & imagination and thinking power. We, at U C MAS UK, are looking forward to bringing this wonder tool Abacus in every child's school bag, toy box, or play areas and convert today's basic skills into lifetime skills.
