Electric Car of Mechanical Engineering UB Aristo Students of Mechanical Engineering Universitas Brawijaya launch a fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly car named Aristo. Aristo was officially launched on Thursday (30/5), in Samantha Krida UB building. Witnessed by Rector, Deans, Lecturers, and Students of Mechanical Engineering, Apatte-62 team performed a test drive in Samantha Krida. The Apatte-62 Team chaired by Agustian Adi Gunawan and Aristo will compete in the Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2013 which will be hold on July 4-7 2013 in Sepang Circuit, Malaysia. The competition sonsists of two categories: Prototype and Urban Concept. Aristo will compete on prototype category. The category is for futuristic car aimed to optimize fuel efficiency toward innovative elements. Aristo is targeed to reach the speed of 300 kilometers per kilo watt hour. Yet up to now it is only reaching 200 km per kilo watt hour. For the frame, they use Honeycom material, the construction is lightweight to hold the weight. The material is commonly used for flooring of airplane. For the fuel, the have two batteries, each with 10 and 20 Ampere current. "For the 10 Ampere, with four hours of charging it can be used to travel 40 kilometers," Agus said. The Dean of Faculty of Engineering Prof. Ir. Harnen Sulistyo, M.Sc., Ph.D convey his pride of the Apatte-62 team. This is because UB is the only team from Indonesia who compete in the category of electrical prototype. Prior to participating in Shell Eco-Marathon 2013, Apatte-62 Team participated on Indonesian Energy Marathon Challenge on 2012. On the competition, Apatte-62 get fourth position. For the Asian level competition, although it is the first time for UB Mechanical Engineering, the guiding lecturer Dr. Eng. Eko Siswanto, ST, MT hopes that the team can go home with victory. This year's Shell Eco Marathon will be participated by 16 countries with 150 teams. Indonesia is represented by 20 teams from various universities that have passed the technical selection. The teams are ITB (2 teams), USU (2 teams), ITS (2 teams), UPI (1 teams), UI (2 teams), Poltek Jakarta (1 tim), Poltek Pontianak (1 tim), UGM (2 teams), STKIP Bandung (1 tim), UB (1 tim), Unesa (1 tim), UNS (2 teams), UNJ (1 tim), AKPRIN (1 tim).[ai/translated by yasmeen]
