USA-IFK Kata Championship Tournament Saturday, January 26th, 2013 HOLLEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Osu! The USA-IFK Kata Championship Tournament will be held at the Holley Elementary School, Intermediate Gym, Saturday January 26th, 2013 Tournament Structure: The tournament will run from 12:30 PM to 4:00 PM. Contestants will be divided into divisions by rank and age. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to start time. See schedule below. Each belt rank group should be prepared for all the katas required for their current IFK rank. They will be asked to perform up to three katas. Divisions are formed by belt level and age. Divisions may be combined if there are less than two competitors per division. Divisions will be combined by age only. Competitors will not compete outside of their rank division. If only one competitor fits into a division, the contestant will still complete the katas for their division and will be scored. Rules: 1. Contestants will be lined up by the ring. They will be called up to perform katas by the scorer’s table. Competitors are to remain at their ring until all competitors have completed. 2. Each contestant will do the required katas for their division. In divisions where katas are broken into groups, the kata will be selected by the officials prior to the start of the division. In the groups with optional katas, the competitor will announce the kata to the judges and begin the kata on their own. 3. USA-IFK kata judges will be used. Scores for each competitor will be added together and medals will be given for the top three composite scores in each division. Ties for the top three positions will be broken by a tie breaking round in which the tied competitors will perform a kata of their choice.
