Adopt An Author The Adopt An Author program at the Ellsworth Public Library is a way for you to support the library by insuring the availability of new books by popular authors. In addition, you will be the first to read your favorite author’s new book. The Adopt An Author program is also a gift idea for that “hard to buy for” person in your life. You can adopt an author to say thank you, in honor of someone or in memoriam to honor a deceased loved one. You adopt an author from the provided list. If your favorite author is not on the list, please feel free to request that author! When the author publishes a new title, the library will notify you of the cost (usually 25% to 40% off cover price) and when you can check the book out. Then you pay us when you check it out.
How does it work? For authors writing multiple series you may choose to adopt one or more of the series. A bookplate will be placed in the front of each book purchased stating it was purchased as part of the Adopt An Author program. If you wish you may have your name or that of the person you are honoring on the bookplate as well. Please check with the library to make sure your author is still available. *Donations are deductible to the extent permissible by law.
