WHY HONDAENGINES ENGINES WHY HONDA HONDA engines - the best choice When a young man named Soichiro HONDA established a workshop of his own for manufacturing motorcycles and engine components in the Japanese town of Hamamatsu in 1928, at that time, nobody could anticipate what it would mean for the world of technology. All his life he put his designer’s soul and energy into development, which often surprised and amazed people in the perfect construction of motor vehicles. In 1953 HONDA decided to offer products in a range of technical and utility purposes to his customers and that’s why HONDA offers large scale technical products today, the heart and driving unit of which is the HONDA engine. Vari Power Meter accurately senses current engine revolutions and also records its actual running time in minutes which enables accurate planning of service operations and simultaneously shows actual working hours of the machine or engine. VARI Power Meter is recommended for all single-cylinder two- and four-stroke combustion engines and it can also be used for all lawnmowers, mulchers, minitractors, lawn tractors, brush cutters, snow throwers, rotary tillers, portable generators, small boat engines, garden hoovers, asphalt cutters and other motor machines. Vari Power Meter installation is very easy and when connected the device is ready for operation. The device contains two lithium batteries ensuring extra long service life. Power Meter can be installed with two bolts or it can be bonded with a bonding tape. Three or four loops of sensing cable around the ignition coil cable ensure the proper operation of the VARI Power Meter.

It is environment-friendly method of grass and weed disposal. Its principle is as follows: if the cutting system is correct, a specially shaped blade grinds the grass stand into small pieces that remain lying on the ground; thus you needn’t care about removing the grass waste and you have no drudge with the cut grass.

What I should mulch Essentially, you can mulch all maintained grass areas, overgrown grass, weeds, self-seeding plants and other biological waste (removal of potato tops, hop waste, etc.), orchards, areas along roads, side ditches. The mulchers are suitable for municipal utilities. What I should mulch As mentioned above, mulching is an environment-friendly method of grass and weed disposal. At present modern time, ecology enters our common life more and more frequently and it will affect us and our lives more and more deeply. Burning such waste is strictly prohibited and transport to a waste dump takes a lot of time and costs money. When mulching non-maintained areas with weeds, self-seeding plants and similar waste regularly and correctly, land reclamation already takes place in a short time. Thanks to its design, the mulcher adapts to small surface irregularities. Small pieces of grass lying on the ground after mulching, rot and act as a fertilizer for regeneration or improvement of the stand quality and keep moisture for some time. Regularly maintained areas offer a nice view and are a part of the landscaping.

WHYthe HONDA ENGINES Proper use of mulcher When I should mulch Mulching should be performed three or four times a year to achieve the stand quality and to avoid grass overgrowing. Considering proper care of the grass area it is ideal to perform mulching at the beginning of the growing season as the freshly grown mulched grass works as a fertilizer supporting the growth of future vegetation. The second suitable mulching season is the end of the growing season. The third season for mulching should be considered according to the grass growing conditions, if needed. How I should mulch When mulching, firstly it is necessary to consider the grass stand. In most cases, two methods of mulching are advised. If your grass stand does not exceed 30 cm the plot should be mowed at once, however, the travelling speed and cutting height should be suitably adjusted. Flaccid and sparse grass should be mulched with higher travelling speed and with maximum cutting width. If the grass is lush, thick and very damp perform mulching with increased cutting height, slower speed and with limited cutting width. This can avoid flooding the mower with the grass, a reduction in speed and adverse cutting condition. If your grass stand is higher, thick and the grass is fresh, perform mowing in two steps. First mowing with a higher cutting height and slower travelling speed; for very thick and fresh grass also adjust to a narrower cutting width. The second final mowing can be performed with a low cutting height and maximum cutting width. It can be done even after a few days when the mulch dries a bit. Perform the second mowing in the opposite direction than the first one. This kind of thick grass mowing ensures a perfectly finished plot which will need only one mowing next time. Proper mulching is very dependent on the grass stand quality assessment and proper selection of mowing method, which is the right ratio of travelling speed and cutting height. Regular maintenance of grass areas eliminates weeds, as well as pollen allergens. High, weedy grass is subject to the increased occurrence of bothersome insect. Another reason to mulch the high grass is the fact that it is the cheapest way of waste-free maintenance of grass and meadow areas.

DS - 521 D LIZA Already for 10 years VARI, a.s. has been specializing in development and manufacture of mulchers, high-grown grass drum mowers and brush cutters. The already established brush cutter line of BDR-595 D Adela has been enriched with a lighter type DS-521 D Liza. The machine’s covers and safety elements meet European standard EN 1233 for safety of hand-guided motor mowers. In case of emergency the safety brake stops the mowing drum within 3 seconds; the mowing drum protective cover avoids cut stand pieces flying off to the area defined by the standard and thus the cutting comfort is improved. The brush cutter has a new system of travelling wheels drive. For easier turning, the free-wheels in machine wheels were substituted for the split drive axle. The mower’s wheel drive can be switched on/off independently of the mowing drum drive. Frame design has a space tubular frame which provides cover of the mowing drum in the front of the machine. MODULAR SYSTEM TERRA-VARI No universal machine can meet such contrasting customer requirements as quality ploughing and mowing. As a response the TERRA-VARI modular system was developed. The heart of the modular system is made of a HONDA driving unit with safety controls, handlebars and automatic centrifugal clutch which can drive two basic gearboxes and machines directly connectable to the drive unit. Thanks to the fact that there are two types of the gearbox available, a customer can have a machine assembled exactly to his requirements. For mowing you need a small and very light machine, capable of going under the bushes in the garden while not damaging the lawn. These criteria are met by the small, light gearbox DSK-316 equipped with a power take-off. The height of the machine is only 64 cm and the weight is 6 kg for this set. A modification of the gearbox equipped with a reverse speed and switching-off of the equipment drive is available not only for demanding customers. It takes only a few seconds to rebuild the machine for another type of work, for example mulching, raking and tedding of hay, snow removal with a snow blade, a snow thrower or a brush, etc. The other gearbox in our offer is called DSK-31. It is a 3-speed gearbox with reverse, intended for ploughing, where we need a heavy machine with good wheels and solid traction. The ploughing unit, with a weight of 250 kg, makes ploughing up to a depth of 18 cm possible. Many tools can be connected to this machine, such as a swing plough, one-way plough, digging share, cultivator, adjustable smoothing harrow, spike-tooth harrow, cultivator with roller, potato hiller, dozer blade or tipping trailer, approved for driving on local roads. The driving axle can easily be exchanged for the set of cultivating blades and you get a rotary tiller with a working width of 25 to 115 cm with the option of selecting the cultivating device according to the type of soil (light, middle heavy – angle blades, heavy – lanced blades). We also offer machines which are directly connectable to the drive unit. The VARI system offers a practical solution to all customer requirements for field, garden, glasshouse or in communal services for maintenance and cleaning.

Advantage of TERRA-VARI system is using one engine for all operations Why are two gearboxes advantageous? No universal machine in the performance class of 5- HP can meet such contrasting customer requirements as quality ploughing and mowing of grass areas at the same time. Thanks to more than 30 years of experience we use the conception of one driving unit and two gearboxes. The HONDA driving unit is equipped with an automatic centrifugal clutch and ergonomic handlebars with controls. The engine can easily be disconnected and moved to the other gearbox or prepared for transport in a few seconds thanks to the quick-clamping clip and the safety pin. The DSK-316 gearbox with power take-off is compact and light, suitable most of all for mowing and maintenance of grass and hard surface areas. Handling with this set is comfortable, it is possible to go under bushes and trees, easily cut corners in gardens and the machine has a low surface pressure on the soil and doesn’t damage the lawn. Fast exchange of the tools with the help of a detent pin enables the use of this set all year long for all types of communal work, such as mowing, mulching, sweeping, raking, hay tedding and snow removal. When working on large areas, you can connect the AV-1 two-wheel seat with a sprung seat and a brake. We recommend the version with the reverse speed and the switching-off of the equipment drive for demanding customers. If the same engine is put on the DSK-31 (or T-20) gearbox, you have a strong and very powerful machine for soil working with passive, as well as active tools. You can connect a trailer and you get a two-wheel minitractor with a trailer with the payload of 350 kg. If you connect a hitch and the adjusting element, you can do the ploughing, harrowing, passive cultivation, hilling, digging the potatoes and raking snow or bulk materials. A professional tiller for active soil cultivation is made by changing the wheels for a rotary tiller device. MODULAR SYSTEM TERRA III-VARI IV - Complete system for soil working TERRA III - VARI IV (DSK-317) The gearbox of the DSK-31 line with a driving axle and accessories equipped with HONDA GCV 160 or GCV 190 driving unit works as a two-wheel universal minitractor which is suitable for transport and passive or active soil cultivation. Gearbox DSK-31 is mechanical with three forward and one reverse speed. Minitractor set includes a driving axle, hitch and supporting leg. HONDA driving unit is easily installable and removable, and other gearboxes or machines are easily connectable directly to the driving unit. Passive VARI system tools can be connected to the hitch which includes weights to increase the towing force on the axle and to balance the machine during operation. Adjusting element NT-3, which is connected to the BZN hitch, is used to connect and properly adjust the passive tool position. MODULAR SYSTEM TERRA III-VARI IV TEN ADVICES FOR PROPER PLOUGH ADJUSTMENT BEFORE PLOUGHING 1. On new ploughs remove the protective paint from mouldboard to facilitate soil roll away. On older ploughs the mouldboard should not be rusty. 2. When uprolling the soil on the mouldboard frequent cleaning is required. 3. On swing ploughs first set one plough with the adjustment element and afterwards the second plough is adjusted by locking only. 4. When adjusting the plough remember to keep the plough position perpendicular to the ploughed soil in spite of the tilt setting. 5. According to the soil quality (heavy-light) the 5 kg weights should be adjusted on the hitch to ensure balance of the set. 6. We shall realize that the plough ploughs to a depth of 18 cm and a width of 18 cm as well. . Driving axle wheels shall be properly inflated and the wheel arrestment set to the fixed position (see the manual). 8. The detent pin on the gearbox shall be inserted. After the pin is inserted it is possible to shift gear 1 and the reverse speed only. 9. Always perform ploughing with the first gear selected. 10. The adjusting element connected to the carrier of 33 kg weight must have allowance of 1 – 2 mm and must not be hard-connected. Possible operations: ploughing, harrowing, passive cultivation, hilling, digging, raking, smoothing, active cultivation.

The PONY modular system is a cheap universal modular machine with many accessories. PONY II/A is a modular system equipped with the HONDA engine which will make your garden work significantly easier. This small and handy machine is intended for smaller fields and gardens with an area of up to 2000 square meters. You can use it as a rotary tiller for the spring soil preparation. Soil is easily and effortlessly cultivated with the lanced blades. It is easy to change the cultivating blades for the 8” wheels; they can also be equipped with ploughing girdles for better machine movement during the ploughing. You can connect all the drawn accessories to the machine equipped as described above – dozer blade, one-way plough, spike-tooth harrow, smoothing harrow and tipping trailer. Log splitters Log splitting can be fun Wood heating is still very popular as gas and electricity prices are getting more and more expensive. In the near future coal is going to be a non-ecological kind of fuel; wood represents another possibility. Wood cutting with a circular saw with a cradle or with a chain saw is an existing practice, but what about splitting? It will certainly pay off to get a good axe. However an axe is not a sufficient tool for regular firewood preparation and that’s where the electro hydraulic log splitters do their invaluable job. They’re becoming very popular and that’s why VARI included them into the product offer too. We offer a horizontal as well as a vertical version. The log splitters consist of robust frame, electromotor, pump, piston, splitting knife and control elements ensuring maximum safety of the operation.

Horizontal log splitter VARI 4 Ton Super Force is very space-saving and compact unit which weighs 44 kg and is designed to split smaller pieces of firewood with diameter of about 25 cm and length of about 3 cm. This category advices using engines with input of 220 V and power of 1500 W. Splitting force of the horizontal log splitter is 4 t. This model is equipped with a useful robust screwed stand enabling a very comfortable position at splitting.

are robust machines designed to split the logs which are impossible to be splitted with an axe in practice. Thanks to the adjustable work table it is possible to split logs with the length of 104 cm/78 cm/52 cm which are used especially in fireplaces and large boilers easily. Driving mechanism presents the engine with power of 3000 W for VARI 6 T and 3500 W for VARI T. It can produce a splitting force of 6 or tons according to the type, and splitting of logs with diameter larger than 30 cm is a piece of cake. Machine weight is 115 kg, hence it is equipped with useful wheels for easy handling. Accessories include a splitting cross and a wide wedge reducing the working time and increasing the work efficiency. Maximum safety is a very important factor for both the log splitters. It is necessary to hold the control levers on the machine side with both hands when you put the log in the horizontal log splitter. This will avoid a hand injury in the splitting area. The vertical log splitter is equipped with clamping arms. You set the log between them and thus a possible fly out of split particles is avoided. The splitting wedge is put in motion by pushing handles on both arms down. It is a matter of course that if one of the buttons is released, the splitting wedge immediately goes back in the start position.
