Message from the Dean The Yonsei International Summer School (YISS) opened its doors in 1985 and since then, YISS has become an integral part of campus life based on a unique blend of Korean and global cultures. YISS continues to grow and evolve, accommodating the needs of a rapidly changing student body and meeting the challenges of a fast-paced global society. The 2012 program has been revamped in order to highlight growing interest in the arts, culture, and humanities while also offering cutting-edge classes in management and economics, global issues, history and social sciences, and science and technology.

Yonsei University Yonsei University celebrates its 127th anniversary in 2012, a critical landmark for higher education in Korea. As the oldest and one of the most prestigious universities in Korea, it has stood in the forefront of higher education and internationalization since its modest beginnings in 1885.

Yonsei maintains the most extensive international network in Korea with 631 partner institutions in 59 countries and educates the largest number of international students among Korean universities, with nearly 5,000 students.

Yonsei, the First & the Best Welcome to Yonsei University. Since its establishment in 1885, Yonsei University has been at the forefront of higher education.

Continuing its pioneering tradition of international education, Yonsei University was the first to establish the Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) in 1987 and the Underwood International College (UIC) in 2005. GSIS offers Englishbased postgraduate degree programs in international studies and Korean studies. UIC graduated its first class in March 2010 and it has become Korea’s premier honors college in Korea. All courses at GSIS and UIC are taught in English by distinguished international and Korean faculty.

The credits students earn at YISS will be transferable to most institutions outside Korea. Students are required to obtain pre-approval from their academic advisor in their home institution so that they can receive credits back to their school. List of Courses Arts, Culture, and Humanities

Scholarships

Fees

Only fee-paying students are eligible to apply for scholarships. Exchange students are not eligible. If you wish to withdraw from the program, the scholarship will be cancelled.

Students who wish to pay in US dollars are strongly recommended to make their payments by considering the exchange rate on the date of the transaction including bank charges. The application fee must be paid in full after the online application is completed. Students who apply through their home institution as Exchange Students will have their tuition and application fees exempted by YISS and instead, they must pay tuition fees at their home institutions.

Scholastic Awards · A Type: Students who earn all A+ in three courses at YISS (KRW 1,200,000) · B Type: Students who earn A- and above in three courses at YISS (KRW 1,000,000) Kim Suk-Hi and Do-sim Scholarship Thanks to a generous donation from Professor Suk-Hi Kim and his wife Do-sim, a scholarship is granted to 3 students in the amount of KRW 1,750,000. Alumni Scholarship Students whose parents are graduates of Yonsei University (KRW 500,000)
